All these shows have one thing
2 . Many people think that TV programs have little or no educational value. It is true that lots of programs are meaningless. However, some programs are good and we can learn many things from them. Here are a few of my favorite programs.
Blue Peter | When I was a child, this was the only program I could watch. I watched it three times a week. You can learn about different countries around the world from it. As the show is for children, the language in it is easy. |
The Great British Bake Off | The show is about making bread, cakes and so on. The show wants to find Britain’s best amateur baker(业余烘焙师). You can watch the show Bake of to get some ideas of new things to try baking and you can always find the recipes online. |
Frozen Planet | This one is about life in cold places. There are many special animals in this show. I love this show not because of the cute animals, but because it teaches us about the impact we have on these animals and what we need to do to save them. |
Pointless | This show is great for making you think. It’s a quiz(知识竞赛)show. It may be about sports, weather, movies and so on. I learned lots of things from this show. |

3 . Have we ever thought what we read for, information or skills? How do we feel when we read, excited or upset? We read word by word aloud and think about them. Is that enough? I think reading is more than pronouncing or thinking about words.
Recently Readers, a very popular TV program, is staged in the form of reading. Dong Qing works as both a hostess and a producer. Readers hopes to tell us what the world is and it takes us to see the beautiful world by reading. The show has invited some influential guests who have rich experiences and touching stories, like Ni Ping, Wang Yuan from TFBOYS and Yao Chen.
“Reading touches people’s hearts” is the slogan (口号) of Readers. What it wants to show isn’t reading skills but real feelings. They are what touch the audience most. “Readers has become a turning point in my career in hosting and the program has brought me quite a huge challenge.” said Dong Qing.
Readers is of great importance to the audience and Chinese culture. It also tells us if we keep our mind on what we are reading, we’ll know what reading is and we’ll become better readers.

With the development of science and technology, communications are becoming easier and quicker now — people can use telephones, cellphones, fax machines and the Internet. It means that we seldom write letters now. But a TV show, Letters Alive (《见字如面》), is bringing back this old habit.
Letters Alive invites famous actors and actresses, but there are no funny jokes or different competitions. Instead, only one person walks up to a microphone and reads a letter. The letters were written by people from different times in history. For example, in one episode(集), they read a letter written by the famous writer Xiao Hong to her younger brother in 1941. The letter shows that Xiao Hong missed her brother so much and had great hopes for his future.
“Every letter opens another world for us,” said Guan Zhangwen, the director of the TV show. “It seems that we can experience the real lives and feelings of the writers”. Since its first episode was on, Letters Alive has been widely praised. Many audiences(观众) say that it has provided a breath of fresh air to today’s TV shows.
Besides Letters Alive, some other cultural TV shows have also attracted Chinese audiences. They include the Chinese Poetry Conference, a traditional Chinese poetry competition and Readers, a program that invites people to read poems and articles they like or wrote. It suggests that cultural values and true feelings are becoming our interest.
