Fisherman with serious heat stroke helicoptered to hospital

A 31-year-old fisherman suffering from serious heat stroke     1     (transport) by helicopter to Shanghai’s Ruijin Hospital for emergency treatment on Friday.

The fisherman broke out with a fever, convulsions and confusion in the morning. The Donghai No. 1 flying rescue team contacted Ruijin Hospital and     2     (undertake) the rescue.

The helicopter arrived at the hospital at 11:12am. Doctors conducted an emergency     3     (evaluate) and treatment on the patient,     4     body temperature was 40 degrees Celsius.

He was     5     (immediate) transported to the intensive care unit (ICU). According to Dr Chen Erzhen, vice president of Ruijin, the patient’s condition improved after     6     hour but his high body temperature damaged his liver, kidney, heart and blood system. The patient is still     7     serious condition.

Doctors said local hospitals have treated several     8     (patient) with heat stroke this summer. They urged people     9     (be) extra cautious about heat strokes on hot days, especially those     10     (work) outdoors.

WHO said last week that COVID-19 no longer qualifies as a global emergency, marking a     1     (symbol) end to the disastrous corona-virus pandemic that caused once-unthinkable lock-downs, economic depression     2     killed millions of people worldwide.

“It’s with great hope that I declare COVID-19 over     3     a global health emergency,” WHO Director-General Tedros said. “That does not mean COVID-19 isn’t     4     health threat,” he said, warning that new variants could yet emerge.

Tedros acknowledged that most countries had already returned to life before. Many countries, including Germany, France and Britain,    5     (drop) most of their measures against the pandemic last year.

Xueqiang, a local ethnic (民族的) dance in Derong County of Sichuan Province, has won national fame among cultural workers and researchers. It was listed     1     a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.

Over time, Xueqiang became standard entertainment at gatherings and     2    (party). As for the origins of Xueqiang, it can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty    7     Princess Wencheng was sent to marry the King of Tubo,     8     ancient kingdom in Tibet. The local artists got together to compose songs and dances     9     (greet) the princess as she passed through. Eventually, Xueqiang     10     (create), combining the artistic spirits of different ethnic groups co-existing at the time.
