Every day, hundreds of thousands of us visit coffee shops. While we drink our coffee, we may connect our smart phone to the shop’s Wi-Fi network, and keep in touch with friends via services such as Facebook.

As well as socializing, we may use the time and free access to a wireless connection to get on top of our finances. Transferring money from your account to others’ accounts is nothing more than a few taps on your screen.

But what coffee drinkers do not realize is that lurking (潜伏) among their fellow coffee-lovers are bank robbers.

Unbeknown to you, this modern form of bank robber is silently collecting all your private data. The only sign of his thievery is perhaps a little smile as your bank log-in details appear on his screen.

You’ll only realize when you later go to a cash machine to withdraw(提取)some money, and discover that every penny in your account has been cleared out.

The more common method for thieves is to use your smart phone’s Wi-Fi connection. They rely on the fact that most of us are not careful about the security of networks we connect to.

For example, when you are in a coffee shop, your smart phone will present you with a list of available Wi-Fi networks that you can use to connect your phone to the Internet. Most of these networks are run by legitimate(合法的) companies, but sometimes they are actually created by a thief sitting nearby with little more than a laptop.

These networks are often given names, such as “Free Public Wi-Fi”, which deceive smart phone users into logging in. On the surface, everything seems normal, and you will be able to connect just as you are with a legitimate Wi-Fi service.

However, because you have connected to a network controlled by a thief, he can monitor (监视) everything you do, enabling him to collect passwords and log-in details about your bank account. In fact, the process is so simple that thieves can steal thousands of pounds in just a few hours while sitting in their local Starbucks.

【推荐1】A private sixth grade is set to start its lessons at 1:30 pm every day because the school's teacher thinks his students will study better after a morning lie-in (懒觉).

Instead of rising early for a 9 am start, students at the £ 15, 000-a-year Hampton Court House, in East Molesey, Surrey, will get to enjoy a lie-in and work from 1:30 pm until 7 pm. Head teacher Guy Holloway says the move for all sixth grade students, set to begin from September, has been made according to research by scientists. He predicts (预测) that not only will his students aged 16 and upwards get great night's sleep, but their productivity (效率) will also be improved.

The co-educational school will have the latest start time in the UK, and will be the only one to begin lessons in the afternoon.

Experts say young people are programmed to get up later, and that rather than laziness it is simply a shift (转变) in their body clocks.

“There are 168 hours in a week and how productive they are depends on how they choose to use those hours”, said Mr Holloway.“At Hampton Court House we don't think we have the answer for everybody; it's about what works in our school. We want to get them into a condition where they can get great sleep and study well.”He said students would also benefit from reduced journey times as they travel to and from school after rush hour (上下班高峰时间).

Year 10 student Gabriel Purcell Davis will be one of the first of 30 A-level students to start at the later time. "I want to wake up in my bed, not in my maths lesson,” said the 15-year-old. Lessons for all other students at the school will still begin at 9 am as usual.

D.Only the sixth grade students will use the new school time.

A.It may be good for students' study.

【推荐2】There’s nothing like having a best friend forever—that person who you can have fun with and talk to. July 30 is the International Day of Friendship. Maybe you can keep an eye out for a new friend to get to know. And while we’re talking about friends, don’t think humans are the only ones who know a thing or two about friendship. Check out these friendly animals in nature who help each other out.

An elephant and an olive baboon (东非狒狒) can be friends? It sounds strange, but it’s true. You can find this pair of friends in the grasslands of Africa. This unusual pair helps each other out like any good friends would. The elephant uses its front teeth to make a waterhole in the sand, and it lets the olive baboon have a drink from this “well” when it gets thirsty. In return, the baboon tells the elephant when danger is near. It climbs up to the treetops and calls out so its friend knows that it’s time to move on.

In the sea world, the goby fish (虾虎鱼) and the shrimp (虾) are well-known for their friendship. While the shrimp provides a home for the goby fish, the goby fish provides a guidance service for the almost blind shrimp. You see, the goby has great eyesight and stays close to the shrimp. As the shrimp moves around, the shrimp is feeling the goby with its antenna (须) from time to time to make sure it’s still there. If the goby senses danger, she will return to the home and the shrimp will follow.

The langur monkey has a very good friendship with the chital deer (花鹿). While the langur monkey eats in a tree, it drops leaves to the ground. This is good for the deer because sometimes there’s not much food. The deer will follow the monkey and eat whatever food is dropped. And in return, when the monkey comes down from the tree, the deer will put its foot down heavily to tell the monkey if it senses danger.

1. How can an elephant help an olive baboon?
A.By offering a shelter.B.By digging a waterhole.
C.By guiding the way.D.By warning it of danger.
2. What does a shrimp do when moving around in the sea?
A.It never swims far from its home.B.It goes home from time to time.
C.It stays close to the goby fish.D.It uses its antenna for directions.
3. What do the olive baboon and the chital deer have in common?
A.They have good eyesight.B.They have a good sense of smell.
C.They warn their friends of danger.D.They live together with their friends.
4. What would be the best title for the text?
A.Best friends foreverB.The International Day of Friendship
C.Love me, love my dogD.Friendships in the animal world

文章大意:本文是说明文。文章通过举例说明了乳糖不耐受症的症状和产生的原因,并对患有乳糖不耐受症的人群提出了建议。

【推荐3】Susan couldn’t help it. She and her friends began lunch with cheese. Then they ate cheeseburgers and drank milk. Things seemed fine, but then suddenly Susan’s stomach started making noise. Her stomach hurt, and, racing to the restroom, she had terrible gas!She was so ashamed. She had been so excited to go to lunch with her friends that she totally forgot to watch how many dairy products (奶制品) she ate! Susan is lactose intolerant (乳糖不耐受的), and eating too many dairy foods can make her feel really sick.

Lactose intolerance means that the body can’t easily digest (消化) a special sugar called lactose. Unfortunately for Susan and millions of other people with this problem, lactose is found in almost all dairy products—cheese, milk and ice cream.

Our body uses lactase (乳糖酵素) to break lactose into a simpler form of sugar. Once lactose is broken down, it’s easy to digest and it provides great energy for the body. But people like Susan don’t have enough lactase to break down all the lactose they take in. So, about half an hour to two hours after eating dairyrich foods, their stomachs begin to hurt and they have gas, making their stomachs get bigger. Sometimes they even get diarrhea (腹泻) when they eat too many dairy foods.

So how can someone living with this problem still eat out with his or her friends? Here are some tips. If you’re going to eat a dairyrich food like ice cream, eat something that doesn’t have any dairy with it, like a salad or a sandwich without cheese. This will help slow digestion, and your body will have time to create more lactase.

1. What can cause lactose intolerance?
A.A shortage of lactose.B.Eating too little sugar.
C.Slow digestion of dairy products.D.Poor digestion of any food you eat.
2. What do we know about lactose?
A.It is found in almost all foods.B.It is very necessary for the body.
C.It is hard for some people to break down.D.It changes its form once it is in the body.
3. What is a result of lactose intolerance?
A.The headache.B.The stomachache.
C.The feeling of hunger.D.The feeling of tiredness.
4. What would be the best advice for Susan?
A.Enjoy eating dairyrich foods.
B.Avoid eating out with her friends.
C.Take digestion pills to speed up digestion.
D.Eat dairyfree and diaryrich foods together.
