文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。主要描述了一个方便的指南告诉读者5G是什么,它对你意味着什么。

2 . To help you understand what 5G is, and what it means to you, we’ve put together a handy guide here.

What is 5G?

1    At its most basic level, 5G will be used to make calls, send texts, and to simply get online. But it’s going to be significantly faster than previous generations, and could open the door up to a range of exciting new uses.

    2

5G will use new higher radio frequencies to send out data, which are less cluttered (挤了) and carry information much faster. While these higher bands are faster, they don’t carry information as far. That’s to say, smaller multiple input and output antennas (天线) will be used—promoting both signals and capacity (容量).    3

Why is it better than 4G?

5G is expected to be faster than 4G, with some firms claiming it could be as much as 100 times quicker. The fastest 4G networks can deliver peak download speeds of around 300 Mbit/s.    4    In real life, this could allow you to download a full HD film in less than 10 seconds!

5    It means there will be very little—if any—delay when you carry out tasks on a device. While this will help improve things like gaming experiences, it could also pave the way for safer self-driving cars—in which even a short delay could be life-saving.

Finally, 5G will have a larger capacity, meaning networks will be able to deal with several apps at once. Generally, this should mean that devices have a faster, more stable connection.

A.How does 5G work?
B.How will 5G affect you?
C.5G is also expected to have a lower latency.
D.5G is short for “5th generation mobile network.”
E.In comparison, 5G could offer download speeds of over 1 Gb/s.
F.Therefore, the similarity between 5G and 4G technology is huge.
G.This means 5G will support up to 1,000 more devices per meter than 4G.

4 . What are the two different things that make humans different from other animals? One is language, and the other is music. It is true that some animals can sing. However, the songs of animals are very simple. It is also true that humans, not animals, have developed musical instruments.

Music is clearly different from language. However, people can use music to communicate with others, especially expressing their emotions. When music is combined with speech, it’s a very powerful form of communication.

If music is truly different from speech, then we should process music and language in different parts of the brain. The scientific studies have proved that it is true. For example, Vissarion Shebalin, a Russian composer, had a stroke (中风) in 1953. It injured the left side of his brain. He couldn’t speak or understand speech. However, he still could compose music until his death. On the other hand, sometimes strokes cause people to lose their musical ability, but they can still speak and understand speech.

Why does music have a strong effect on us physically and emotionally? That’s a hard question to answer. Geoffrey Miller, a researcher at a university, thinks that music and love have a strong connection. Music requires a special talent, practice and physical ability. For example, playing a musical instrument requires fine muscular control. You also need good memory to remember the notes. And playing those notes correctly suggests that your hearing is in excellent condition. Finally, when a man sings to the woman he loves, it may be a way of showing off.

However, Miller’s theory still doesn’t explain why certain combinations of sounds influence our emotions so deeply. For scientists, this is clearly an area that needs further research.

1. What is the purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To introduce the main topic.
B.To show the author’s attitude.
C.To analyse causes.
D.To describe a process.
2. Music is considered especially powerful when it ________.
A.is translated into a language
B.is combined with speech
C.is sung by some famous musicians
D.is mixed with the cry of an animal
3. The example of Vissarion Shebalin is used to show that ________.
A.he is one of the luckiest persons
B.he is really interested in composing music
C.the brain processes music and language separately
D.music and language are two different things for some
4. What is the fourth paragraph mainly about?
A.The effects of music on humans’ works.
B.The studies on how music affects our works.
C.The reasons why music affects us.
D.The ways of using music in daily life.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了如何积极应对生活中的改变。

9 . Change can be hard. It means a lack of certainty and predictability.     1     Here are some tips to give your teen to help them cope with change in a healthy way.

2     Many times, our first response to change is to either deny it, fight it, or run away from it. Unfortunately, none of these strategies help us cope with change successfully. Most of the time we can’t control change, but we can control our response to it. Sometimes, simply saying “things are changing, and that’s OK” can make us feel better.

Control what you can.     3     Having some things that stay the same like walking the dog every evening after dinner reminds us that some things are still the same and allows our brain to rest. It can also help to plan whatever is still in our control or set goals for areas we want to see improve. Useful strategies can include focusing on the problem at hand, developing a plan for action, and asking for advice.

Identify your fears. Our imaginations can get the best of us sometimes, and we might exaggerate the problem. Honestly evaluate the change and consider what the worst case is. Determine what specifically is making you worried.     4

Talk about solutions more than feelings. One of the most common myths (谬见) of coping with unwanted changes is the idea that we can “work through” our anger, fears, and frustrations by talking about them a lot.     5     In fact, research shows that repeatedly broadcasting negative emotions can make us feel worse. As you talk about the change you are facing, make sure you are focusing on the problem and possible solutions, and avoid focusing solely on your feelings.

A.Take a fair attitude.
B.Acknowledge the change.
C.This isn’t always the case.
D.Look at the positives that will come out of the change.
E.It helps to have other areas of our life follow a predictable schedule.
F.You might realize that the worst case is not as bad as you imagined.
G.However, change is necessary for growth and it is normal to fear what we don’t know.

10 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Once upon a time, there lived a young boy named Ethan in a small village. With a passion for music, Ethan was enthusiastic about playing the guitar. Every day after school, he would rush home, grab his guitar, and lose himself in the melodies (乐曲) he created.

One summer, the village was hosting a talent show, and Ethan decided to participate. However, doubts started to flood into his mind. He began comparing himself to other talented musicians and questioning his abilities. The fear of failure began to consume him.

But Ethan’s grandfather, who had always been his biggest supporter, noticed his grandson’s inner struggle. He sat down with Ethan and shared a story from his own youth.

“When I was your age, I had a dream of becoming a painter. But I was filled with self-doubt, just like you are now. I decided to seek guidance from a wise old artist in a nearby town.

The old artist listened to my worries and offered me a challenge. He asked me to paint a picture on a large canvas in front of a crowd. Overwhelmed by the challenge, I hesitated.

The wise artist smiled and told me not to focus on what others might think. He asked me to paint from my heart and pour my soul into every stroke. The beauty lies not in perfection, but in the authenticity (真实性) of one’s creation.

Encouraged by these words, I accepted the challenge. I painted with passion, letting my emotions guide my brush. Finally, a beautiful masterpiece appeared on the canvas.”

Finishing the story, Ethan’s grandfather said, “That day, I realized that success is not defined by how perfect we are or how we compare to others. It’s about embracing our unique talents, taking risks, and expressing ourselves with passion and authenticity.”
