Traditional festivals are a significant part of Chinese culture, which we must protect and maintain.     1     这样做有三个理由.

First of all, traditional festivals teach us a lot about our nation’s history. For example,     2     the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated in honour of Qu Yuan, a great poet. By celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival with rice dumplings and dragon boat races, the story of Qu Yuan is passed down from generation to generation.

    3     Traditional festivals also enable us to learn more about fine Chinese values. Many festivals, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, have a caring, family-centred message at their heart. The full moon on the festival stands for family togetherness and     4     family members will come back home even if they live very far away.

Last but not least, traditional festivals are a source of national pride and help shape our national identity. That’s why we celebrate the Hanshi Festival and the Laba Festival with unique customs, and these shared experiences bring us together as a people.     5     传统节日告诉我们我们是谁and fill us with pride of being Chinese.

Exercise has a range of health benefits. However, some people believe that     1     if some exercise is good, more is always better, so they tend to exercise for a long time without stopping. For example, some people go jogging for several hours at a time because of the step-counting smartphone apps.     2     还有些人周末连续锻炼数个小时 to make up for their lack of exercise during the weekdays. Habits like these put stress on the body, and if maintained over the long term,     3     they can be a serious health risk.

If you do exercise for only a few minutes, you may not be working out long enough to see any benefits from it. When you exercise, aim for the daily average of 30 to 60 minutes.     5     这将会防止你受伤. One day a man was asked to paint a boat by the owner of the boat. He brought with him paint and brushes and began to paint the boat bright red, as the owner asked him. While painting the boat, he saw a hole in the boat. He repaired it at once.     1     (完成刷漆后，他拿了钱便离开了。)

The next day, the owner of the boat came to the painter’s house and presented him with a nice check, much higher than the payment of painting.     2     (油漆匠感到非常惊讶。) “You’ve already paid me for painting the boat!” he said.

“But this is not for the paint job. It’s for having repaired the hole in the boat,” the owner said.

“But it was such a small service. Certainly it is not worth paying me such a high amount for something so unimportant!”

“My dear friend, you do not understand.     3     (现在让我告诉你发生了什么。) When I asked you to paint the boat, I forgot to mention the hole. When the boat dried, my kids took the boat and went on a fishing trip. They did not know that there was a hole in the boat. I was not at home at that time. When I returned and noticed they had taken the boat, I was hopeless because I remembered that the boat had a hole.     4     (然而，让我欣喜的是，他们竟然安全回家了!) It was really unbelievable!

“    5     (我立刻检查了这艘船，发现你已经修补了那个洞!) You see, now, what you did? You saved my children! I do not have enough money to pay your ‘small’ good deed.”

So, no matter where, when or how, just carefully repair all the ‘holes’ you find.
