3 . Surrounded by a charming poplar forest in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a woman dressed in silk, dances under falling golden poplar leaves, looking like a “fairy” from myth(神话). This is a scene from a video that has caught the attention of Chinese netizens who have seen it as one of the most beautiful tourism promotions on social media.
This elegant lady is not an actress but the director of the Xayar County(县)Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism—Renaguli Reheman. Reheman recalled that the idea to introduce Xayar county’s plentiful tourism resources through short videos was inspired by another official in Zhaosu county in Xinjiang whose short video of him riding a horse in the snow successfully helped to promote local tourism.
Reheman said shooting the videos was not easy. Thinking that having her ride a camel would be a good fit for a desert tourism promotion, she decided to challenge herself by riding the tall animal even though she was afraid of falling off. While promoting a scenic(风景优美) highway near the poplar forest, Reheman spent two days learning to ride a motorcycle.
Reheman is just one of the many local officials who are promoting county tourism with fresh ideas and creative methods. This new tourism promotion model has brought local tourism industries to life and more officials are learning from it through the county.

7 . You’re in a department store and you see a couple of attractive young women looking at a sweater. You listen to their conversation:
“I can’t believe it — Lorenzo Bertolla! It is almost impossible to find. Isn’t it beautiful? And it’s a lot cheaper than the one Sara bought in Rome.”
They leave and you go over to see this incredible sweater. It’s nice and the price is right. You’ve never heard of Lorenzo Bertolla, but those girls looked really stylish. They must know. So, you buy it. You never realize that those young women are employees of an advertising agency. They are actually paid to go from store to store, talking loudly about Lorenzo Bertolla clothes.
Every day we notice what people are wearing, driving and eating. If the person looks cool, the product seems cool, too. This is the secret of undercover marketing.
Companies from Ford to Nike are starting to use it.
Undercover marketing is important because it reaches people that don’t pay attention to traditional advertising. This is particularly true of the MTV generation — consumers between the age of 18 and 34. It is a golden group. They have a lot of money to spend, but they don’t trust ads.
So advertising agencies hire young actors to “perform” in bars and other places where young adults go. Some people might call this practice misleading, but marketing executive Jonathan Ressler calls it creative. “Look at traditional advertising. Its effectiveness is decreasing.” It is true, because everyone knows and ad is trying to persuade you to buy something. However, you don’t know when a conversation you overhear is just a performance.
1. The two attractive young women were talking so that they could ______.A.be heard by people around | B.get the answer at a lower price |
C.be admired by other shoppers | D.decide on buying the sweater |

8 . If you’re looking for a university with a strong international outlook but feel swept over by all the application options, here is some guidance to get you started.
UK
International students must apply to universities in the UK through a system known as Ucas. This system allows students to apply to up to five universities with just one application. It costs £20 for a single choice or £25 for more than one choice.
The application consists of a series of questions to determine the student’s schooling and applicants should describe their personal interests and related experiences.
Switzerland
Switzerland has four official languages and its universities are among the most international in the world. International applicants may need to take an entrance exam if they have a foreign school certificate, and must also prove that they have a good grasp of the French language. usually through taking a language exam. The full application costs 50 Swiss Francs for a holder of a Swiss diploma and 150 Swiss Francs for holders of foreign diplomas.
Canada
International applicants have to write up a personal profile as part of their application, which is very similar to the personal statement required for a UK university application. Students will also have to prove their English-language competency—there are nine ways to meet the English Language Admission Standard, which are listed on many university websites.
Singapore
The process of applying to a Singaporean university is very much alike, but overseas students may be delighted to find that the native applicants have to cover the same procedures: filling out an online application form and submit identification documents, supporting documents and an application fee of S$20.
