It’s not news that we spend more time texting and surfing online than ever. But a recent study shows that more teenagers are reading good old-fashioned and ink-on-paper books. Reading is a good way to widen your knowledge and learn about yourself. You probably know how to find the best application programs for your phone.     1    

Reading on your own isn’t like reading for school.     2    It could be ancient martial arts, computers, or fashion design. If you can name the subject, you can find books about it.

    3     Books of fiction, like novels or short-story collections, can transport you to another world or help you to imagine something beyond your own experience. Not all fiction is the same. Try some different types of fiction and see which one you prefer. Non-fiction books give you the “who”, “what”, “when” and “why” of something. They tell stories using facts, but that doesn’t mean they are dull.

The reviews and quotes on the back and inside covers of many books are known as “blurbs”. These comments not only give you an idea of what the book is about, but also help you to pick out future books. If you find a book you really like, take a minute to read the blurb and see which authors praised the book.    4    

Your local library can provide you with a lot of great books. Explain your interests and mention any writer you like, and the librarian can point you towards books that you will like. Then you can enjoy what you’re reading in a quiet place.

I like reading because books are good teachers and helpful friend. When I am a child, I got into the habit of read. In the past years, I have read many the books. Reading makes me relaxing and see the world in different ways. It also develops my interests and enriches my knowledge. There are much books that we can read, and different people have our own favorite ones. I like to read books on music, it is an important part of life. Learn some basic information about music can help me have a good sense of beauty. With different forms of music our life will become wonderfully.

When I was a baby, my mother used to reading me nursery rhymes. I loved the rhymes creating skillfully at the end of the lines. When I grow older, I was introduced to many other forms of poems. That I liked best came from Asian because they conveyed meanings with the minimum of words. When I ran out of new poems, I would go to the library for less. The librarian was one of my mother friends, and she would recommend poetry books me. In fact, my family love reading so very much that we keep buying books, but our living room is full of books.

5 . How to Be a Good Reader

Many people enjoy reading as a way to relax and enrich their minds. Reading is also an increasingly important skill to learn and develop to be successful in school and in the professional world.     1     There are several ways to improve your reading or help you become a better reader.

● Start at a comfortable reading level.

    2     If you plan to read a material that is difficult in the beginning, you are more likely to give up and less likely to achieve your goal in the long run. If you have chosen a book with a very narrow focus, like a scientific work, you might want to read more familiar topics first.

The more you connect reading with comfort and relaxation, the more likely you are to continue developing your reading skills. Reading can be great fun, rather than a daily activity.

● Practice your reading.

Studies have shown that people who spend more time reading and take in a greater number of reading materials develop a greater reading skills. This improves their ability to take in knowledge more generally. As with anything else, developing reading skills takes work.     4    

● Read materials that interest you.

Choosing the suitable materials is important.     5     If you are bored while reading, you are more likely to put the book down and take part in a different activity. So please find books related to your hobbies, career goals, or a topic that makes you curious.

8 . How do young children learn to have good values? How can parents teach their children about the importance of kindness and patience? At a time when more and more parents worry about the violent images their children see on TV, some are turning to fairy tales.

It is believed that fairy tales have a great influence on children because they describe the two sides of good and evil very clearly. When children hear the stories, they learn to care about others’ feelings. In each tale, they can see that there are many different kinds of people in the world and that we all have a choice about what kind of person we want to be. We can choose to do good actions, rather than bad ones, in our lives.

What kind of values can children learn from fairy tales? In The Princess and the Pea, a poorly dressed girl, who insists she is a princess, is given a difficult test by the Queen. When she passes the test, we learn that her dream comes true because she stays true to herself. In The Little Mermaid, the mermaid, who lives under the sea, wishes to be with the humans on land. Teaching values is the reason most often given for encouraging children to read stories. These fairy tales can teach children lessons about human relationships that are accepted around the world for many centuries. This might be the reason why they have been around for so long and will not disappear any time soon.
