1 . A virtual (虚拟的) panda, named Beibei is becoming fashionable recently. He is very cute and can dance and speak both Chinese and English. He hosts a show called Panda Wandering. It is an interesting TV program. It shows the beauty of Sichuan and its great culture and events. Since the program aired (播出) for the first time at the end of June, 2023, there has been a lot of discussion about it. The program is successful!
The show has two parts, “Panda Trending” and “Panda Scanning”. In the first part, it reports the events in Sichuan and shows the development of Sichuan. 2 . Journey to the West, or Xi You Ji, is a very famous Chinese TV play. It is about the great trip of Tang Seng, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Seng. The stories come from a book of the same name by Wu Cheng’en in the Ming Dynasty(朝).
The TV play was the first of its kind in China. The production team(制作团队)spent about six years, from 1982 to 1988, making it. The production team met with many problems. At that time, they only had very simple tools(工具). Still, they tried their best to make the TV play well. They spent two months visiting over 60 places across China to find the best places for different stories. They needed the wire stunt(威亚) to help characters “fly”, but no one knew how to do it. They flew to Hong Kong to learn the technique(技术).
Through the production team’s hard work, the TV play was first on in China in 1986. It quickly became very popular. About nine people in ten watched it. So far Chinese channels have repeated(重播) the TV play more than 3, 000 times. Now, it is still popular with Chinese people. When people talk about “summer vacation”, lots of them think of the TV play. People in other countries also love it.

6 . A TV play named Shanhe Jinxiu was on show in November, 2022, getting good reviews. The play is about China’s poverty alleviation (扶贫). It tells a story happened in a village in Qinling Mountains in Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. It describes the changes in Chinese country over thirty years.
There were two small poor villages in a mountain. Back in the 1990s, the two villages were forced to become one because of natural disaster.
To help the people have a better life, the leader of the village, main character Zhao Shuhe, decides to change the situation and help people there get out of poverty.
Another main character is Guo Wen. He and his father have lived in the village for a long time. He loves the village and people there. After he begins to work in the government, he also keeps an eye on the poverty of the village. It’s his wish to help lift the place out of poverty as well.
With the help of Guo and Zhao, the people there try their best to change their hometown. At last, they have a happy and rich life through 30 years’ hard work.

7 . Until recently, it was common for people in Xinjiang to search for missing livestock (牲畜) everywhere. To solve the problem, a company in Urumqi has developed a system which can locate (定位) the livestock in real time.
“Herdsmen (牧民) welcomed the system,” Chen Hu, the manager of the company, says proudly. “In the past, cows and sheep ran all over the mountain and people were busy searching for missing livestock. Now they can stay at home while letting their animals eat grass in the field. They don’t need to worry about where to find them, leaving more time to complete other work. It helps them a lot.”
The above story is told in the first episode (集) of the documentary Aspiring Jobs in China. According to Tang Sishi, general producer of the show, in recent years, people seem worried about their jobs and have created popular terms like “996 working schedule” and “neijuan”. However, she says many people around her, including herself, actually enjoy their work.
