5 . We made a survey among different age groups on preferred ways of watching TV programs. The following is the analysis (分析) of the survey results. We hope to give suggestions to advertisers based on the findings.

TV viewers of different ages were asked about their primary way of watching TV. The results can be seen in the pie chart, which shows that although live TV is still popular, it is now preferred by just under half of those surveyed. Watching recorded programs (DVR) is the second most popular way (23%), with online streaming (直播) in third place (17%).

Of the people who chose each of the three main viewing kinds, the graph (柱状图) shows what percentage was in each of the seven age groups. To help advertisers look for target (目标) age groups, the report will focus on the data (数据) shown in this graph.

The survey shows that live TV viewers are still the largest group. They are older in age, so advertising through live TV will be less helpful for products aimed at younger people.

On demand (点播) or DVR viewers are more likely to be aged 25—44. This is the best kind for advertisers aiming at a wide age group. However, it should be remembered that they are likely to skip advertisements when watching recorded programs. They think it is a waste of time to watch ads.

Online streaming viewers are typically younger in age (under 25). Although they now make up less than a fifth of viewers, the number is likely to rise in the near future.

Generally, it is likely that the data for the three kinds will become almost the same in the near future.

China Media Group (CMG) showed the official theme and logo for the 2024 Spring Festival Gala several days ahead of the Year of the Dragon.

The logo of the gala uses the Chinese character , ______ “the flying of the dragons”, as the main symbol. The character is made up of three smaller characters for the word “ ______ ” written in traditional Chinese.

Some people were ______ by this character, saying, “This is the first time I’ve known this character is pronounced da. That’s so fun.” ______ said, “It best suits China, because we regard ourselves as the descendants of the dragon (龙的传人) .” Those who were looking forward to the Year of the Dragon said, “I ______ I have good luck this year.”

Shanghai’s Huanghe Road was famous for its expensive restaurants before. Only rich people could eat there. But things changed in the mid-1990s. The big and bright signs were taken down because of new safety rules. They also stopped selling fried snacks. Then, financial (金融的) problems in Asia made many restaurants closed.

    1     Lots of people are coming to see it. They are looking for old things and memories. Wang Yongfen has lived there for 35 years. She says she has never seen so many people.

A TV series called Blossoms Shanghai (《繁花》) is about Shanghai in the 1990s.     2     Wang, 60, says the TV series makes her think of the past. “The restaurants here first brought Hong Kong food to the city. Many famous cooks from Hong Kong worked here,” she says. In the 1990s, Hong Kong food, songs, and movies were very popular.

A guard says the street is very crowded now.     3     More young people are coming, too. The Taishengyuan Restaurant is very busy because of the TV series. Its online sales have gone up a lot. The Fairmont Peace Hotel is also getting more visitors. The hotel made a special menu with food from the TV series. It is expensive but sold out quickly. Online orders for food from the TV series have also gone up.     4     Other foods like pork chops and rice cakes are being ordered a lot more, too.

The TV series also reminds people of the past. Huang Jiani remembers when people set off big firecrackers (鞭炮) in the street for the Spring Festival.     5     They were very loud. Business people believed that larger and louder firecrackers would bring greater fortunes in the new year.
