From the Sanxingdui Ruins to the Nanhai No.1 shipwreck, plenty of     1     tell us a lot about China’s past. In consideration of their great     2     value, a culture reality show has come out to tell the stories of six cultural treasures,     3     the two mentioned above. The show named The Mystery of China not only shows us around these cultural treasures but asks experts questions to help us get a better understanding of them.

To narrow down (缩小范围) their     4     to six, the production team of the show visited many of China’s well-known cultural sites and compared them carefully. They also met a lot of challenges when making this show. Making a(n)     5     of these cultural treasures in the best way was among then.

“If we follow the time order, we’ll have to start from the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties or even     6     China’s history is so long that it’s impossible for us     7     that,” said Li, the show’s director.

“A collection of royal (皇家的) objects from the Tang Dynasty was     8     found by someone in a small village in Shaanxi in1970. Who hid them underground and why did, they do so? We hope to help uncover all these mysteries to make people learn more about our nation and     9     shining culture.”

According to Li, “who we are” and “where we come from” are key questions. “We expect every person can get their answers after watching this show. That’s one of the show’s     10    ”, Li said.

The Reader returned with a fresh sense of purpose after three years. Perhaps, COVID-19 and     1     complicated (复杂的) feelings through COVID-19 have provided more reasons for people to look for comfort among the pages of a book.

“I’ve waited for a very long time for this season,” Dong Qing, the     2     and host of the TV show, recalls. “After everything in 2020, I found that many people,     3     myself, still need it. That made me decide to move forward and get the show restarted.”

In the opening of the new season, the show has invited Mo Yan, the 2012 winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature (文学). “Literature is about souls (灵魂). I     4     lost myself in the novels and their characters,” Mo says. On the show, he shares the books he read when he was young. “Maybe you are     5     to touch the soul, but you can always feel it.”

In the     6     season, more guests who are not from cultural circles speak about the strength of literature. “In this season, the period we’re in is better     7     by us all,” Dong says. “What the guests read shows their care for society and deep thoughts on life.” By inviting people from different     8    , we can see how they love life and work hard to move forward. They discover the     9     with courage and find strength in difficulty. Their stories,     10     laughter and tears, remind people of their similar experiences.”

An expert from cultural circles says, “The Reader not only offers people mental strength, but also encourages people to find beauty in life from the heart.”
