6 . Think back when were your best days of the year. Sometimes they were the days you expected, such as parties or holidays.
How can you find a way to know when the best days are coming and really feel them as they happen?
Besides the unforgettable experiences you record, you’ll often remember the things that are more emotional (有感染力的) instead of the common and boring things. That’s because your brains are easier to choose things about feelings.
In other words, the best days must have a special meaning for you. Giving a hand to others is just a good feeling. When you help others, the “feel-good” part of your brain gets a message. It makes you feel happy. Sometimes when you plant the trees in the sun, you feel tired but happy.
A.Try to record the best day at any time. |
B.But more often, the real best days weren’t very clear. |
C.You will remember these common but unforgettable days. |
D.Why not try to have a best day right now, maybe even tonight? |
E.So when you look back, you remember the things that are more emotional. |
7 . It is breakfast time. You are looking forward to eating a banana. But when you reach for the delicious fruit, you see something that makes you much less hungry: a group of fruit flies!
Fruit flies are small insects (昆虫) that love fruits and vegetables. They not only eat the fruit, but also lay their eggs there. A single fruit fly can lay up to 500 eggs on a fruit. Sometimes they trouble you a lot, and you will use pesticides (杀虫剂) to kill them. However, it will also spread harmful chemicals all over your kitchen. Luckily, there is also a completely safe way for you to get rid of fruit flies in your house.
The first step is to put all your fruits or vegetables into the fridge. Clean up any juice or food that might be on the floor and take out the rubbish in time. Doing all of these things will stop new fruit flies from finding places to lay their eggs.
Next, catch all of the fruit flies in your house. Fill a small bowl with vinegar (醋). Then, put a piece of fruit into it. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap (保鲜膜) and make a few small holes in the wrap. If all goes according to plan, the flies will enter the bowl through the holes but will be unable to fly back out.
Fruit flies can be harmful, but they do not have to make you crazy. With a little effort, you can get flies out of your house and keep new ones from taking over your kitchen.

8 . In our daily lives, we often follow the same activities: getting up, going to school, eating and going to bed. Do they sound common? But what if something unusual or unexpected happens? That’s what I experienced one evening last week on my way home.
When I was riding my bike home in the evening, I saw a brown and white dog. He looked sad and lost, simply sitting in the middle of the road. He seemed unsure of what to do as he lay down and watched the passing traffic. Nobody seemed to mind the dog either, only passing him by at a distance (在远处).
At first, I also crossed over to the other side, hoping that somebody else would care for the dog. But realizing the dog might suddenly stand up and walk into traffic, I decided I must do something to help the dog.
When the light changed, I saw my chance. I guided the dog to a street corner, and encouraged the dog to keep walking until finally we both made it to the sidewalk. I called a dog shelter (收容所) group to let them know about the dog’s situation and stayed with the dog until the helpers came.
Sometimes we don’t know what we will find or see in our daily lives. Still, what matters is how we deal with it. Though I am usually shy in these situations, I am glad I found the courage (勇气) to help a dog in need, even if just for a moment.
