4 . Lang Jiaziyu was born in 1995. However, his interests are very different from those of other young people. Lang likes making dough figurines (面人), or “mian ren”. There are over 750 traditional crafts like “mian ren” in China. More than half of them are in danger of disappearing. Few young people even know about them. Lang says he often feels lonely. Because no one can share the joy of making “mian ren” with him.

These days, Lang Jiaziyu is making dough figurines about popular cartoon characters and famous people. He also tries to make short videos (视频) of his craft and put them online. The young man hopes that in this way, more young people can become interested in the art form.
