10 . This week, in Los Angeles, the MasterChef Junior (少年大厨) contestants (选手) showed what was supposed to be the world’s largest cake. Instead, they made the smallest cake in the world.

What happened to the great cake? They wanted to make a 3, 000-pound cake baked for 35 hours in a 6-foot-wide by 8-foot-deep pan. Sadly, the pan broke up. Twenty-four chefs, ages 8 to 13, are selected and put through some cooking tests. Contestants are eliminated (淘汰) two at a time until one is finally named MasterChef Junior.

As the kids complete the challenges, some judges (裁判) taught or helped them. They are Gordon Ramsey, Joe Bastianich, and Graham Elliot.

The young cooks didn’t fear the adult judges. “Gordon, Joe and Graham were all really helpful and really knew about what we were doing,” said Tommy from California. He is a 12-year-old contestant on the show.
