3 . Have you watched the recent TV Three-Body? Changed by Liu Cixin’s science book The Three-Body Problem, the show is very popular with people. One of the most exciting parts must be Operation Guzheng.
In order to find the important information of a huge ship, people plan to cut the ship into pieces. They set up many thin strings (线) across the river, the strings quietly cut the steel ship into pieces as if the ship was soft tofu!
Is it possible to cut ships with thin strings in real life? In fact, strings are very good at cutting. For example, the egg cutting machine uses thin strings to cut eggs into pieces. A kite line can easily hurt people if it gets circle around their necks. This is because the thin strings have a very small contact area(压强) when they cut things.
In the program, the strings are as thin as human hair. To cut the ship, the pressure needs to be 200 MPa. How strong is that pressure? Imagine an elephant standing on a string! In real life, scientists won’t be able to make such thin strings that wouldn’t easily break, at least for years to come. The cutting will also create lots of heat. We don’t have the things to bear.(忍耐)

As a saying goes, “Painting is silent poetry and poetry is painting that speaks.” Now a TV program named China in Poetry and Painting that explores the connection between ancient poems and paintings in Chinese history is airing on CCTV. It has caught wide attention across the country.
In each weekly episode (集), five ancient paintings and several poems on related themes are explored. With each painting, there is a performance telling the story behind its creation, including the painter’s brush skills and spiritual world. The performances include singing, dancing, stage plays, instrumental performances and martial arts. Technologies such as 3D are also used to help viewers better understand the classic works.
Among the performers are singers Liao Changyong, Ayanga and Tan Weiwei, singer-songwriter Xu Song, and actors Cao Lei and Fan Siu-wong. They draw on their talents to present classic works in their own ways. After each performance, the program’s host Sa Beining and some experts sit with the performers at a round table, together discussing and enjoying the classics. “We want to find ways that can make ancient poems and paintings come alive,” says Tian Mei, chief director of the program. To prepare for the program, the production team worked closely with some experts, choosing nearly 60 classic paintings. About half of them are from the collection of the Palace Museum.
Today, more and more Chinese young people are interested in traditional Chinese culture. Since the program came out, it has drawn millions of young viewers. If you are a fan of ancient Chinese poems and paintings and want to better understand the spirit of Chinese people, don’t miss the program.

For primary school students watching TV can make them understand the important events at home and abroad, open their eyes, and get knowledge. Besides, they have been very nervous at school. After getting home, it is very necessary to relax. And watching TV is a very good way. When some programs are educational, they have both fun and increased knowledge. TV gives primary school students the growth and development of brains. We asked 1,000 students from different schools. The following are the results of the survey about what kind of TV programs students prefer.
In modern society, it is impossible and it is not necessary to stop children from watching TV. But to guide them to choose good programs, to choose proper time, and even to see the suitable programs together, you can discuss with them, and use entertainment to train your child’s mind, enrich your child’s emotions (情感).
