Each part of a plant has a different job. Flowers make the seeds. Little seeds grow up to be plants. Leaves make food for the plant. The steam carries food and water to leaves. The roots hold the plant in the ground.

Jack’s Trip

Jack lives in London. He comes to Beijing by plane in April. He visits the Great Wall. It is cool. He wears a coat. He goes to Kunming by train. He likes the flowers and butterflies in Kunming. It’s warm and he wears a shirt. Then he goes to Thailand (泰国) by plane. He goes to see the elephant show and eats fruits there. It’s very hot, so he wears his shorts. After that, he goes to Australia by ship. It is June now. He takes pictures with kangaroos (袋鼠). He still wears his shorts. It is winter in Australia. He has a cold. He has to stay in Australia for a while. He sees kangaroos every day. He gets bored (无趣). He wants to go home, so he goes back to London by plane. He wears his coat, but it is very warm there.

Fishing

My cousin Sam enjoys fishing and spends most of his time by the river. He enjoys being in the fresh air and on his own. There is no one to trouble him, and the time passes happily for him.

Unfortunately, he is not a very good fisherman. He never catches anything big enough to cat. However, he does not like to admit this to his wife, Jenny. If she knows he is wasting his time, she may try to stop him from going fishing.

On the way home, Sam always visits the local fish shop and buys something. When he gets home, he tells Jenny that he caught a good fish. They then have it for dinner.

One evening, Sam fails again, and be stops at the fish shop on his way home. He wants to buy three trouts. But the shop owner asks him to buy salmon instead. Sam doesn’t know the reason. The shop owner tells him that his wife came in an hour ago, and wanted to make sure that he “caught” salmon.

Dan likes cats very much. He makes this cute black cat with old paper plates. First, Dan colours the paper plate black. Next, he cuts the body. the tail and the head. Then, he glues (粘) them together. He also adds eyes and a nose! The cat looks really great!

Look at the lovely box and the frog! Lily makes these with egg boxes. She is really good at making things with them. She colours the box and decorates (装饰) with pretty paper flowers How beautiful they look!

What can we do with old CDs? We can have fun with them! Sally makes a CD fish for her little brother. Her brother says “Oh, what a lovely fish! I like it very much!” Sally also makes some CD animals for her friends. Sally is a good girl.
