When you have a dinner party, what should you do? The following will help you. Try to open the door for each guest. If someone else answers the door, go to welcome your guests as soon as you can. Always offer (主动) to take their coats and ask, “Would you like me to take your coat?”

People often bring gifts like flowers or chocolate to a dinner party. Be ready to receive (收到) the gifts if they do. Get a vase so that you can put the flowers in it. Never leave a guest unattended (没人照顾的), especially when there is only one of them. If there is more than one, they can talk to each other.

If the party is at home, a good idea is to have a toilet (洗手间) sign (指示牌) for people who don’t know your house. If the party is somewhere else, like a restaurant, try not to be too loud, because not everyone in the restaurant is at your party.

Friendship (友谊) Day started in the United States in 1935. Now people all over the world celebrate it on the first Sunday of August every year and it’s the best time to say thank you to your friends. Here are some activities on Friendship Day.

To watch a good film with your friends is great. You can also get some DVDs about friendship and watch them with friends at home.

Talking about old memories (回忆)

Friendship Day is the best time to celebrate your friendship together. Call your friends and go through your albums (相册). It will make you and your friends think of the funny things you did together when you were young.

Americans spend their weekends in different ways. But usually they have the same aims—to rest, to enjoy beautiful places and to enjoy the time with their family and friends.

    41     They will dance, sing and drink together till midnight. Then they won’t get up until 9, 10 or even 11 o’clock next morning. As soon as they get up, they will go to the nearest corner shop to buy the daily newspaper.     42     It will help them to decide what to do on Sunday afternoon.

They will take many things with them, such as fresh vegetables, seafood, drinks, tablecloths (桌布). Usually they drive to a beautiful park, a lake or the seaside.
