Judy likes climbing and she is used to     1    . But she got into trouble when she was climbing a mountain with some passengers last time.

At first, she felt a little pain in her throat. She thought she only had a cold. Then she had a stomachache and a sore back. Later, she     2     badly and had a headache and toothache, too. She could hardly breathe, and then she fell     3     a 1,000­kilo rock. She hurt her knee, neck and foot. She lost too much     4    . She felt really sick and she almost lost her left leg. It     5     she should get out of the climbing team and take a good rest.

Though she was in a dangerous situation, to our surprise, she made a big     6    —she herself   cut off the bandage with a knife, put it around her knee and pressed hard, then kept on climbing     7    . 　

After she got back, we sent her to hospital to get an X­ray. A nurse took her temperature. She was having a high fever. The doctor asked her to lie down and take     8     for a few days.

“After the accident, I know the importance of never giving up to a climber. It hit me that we'd show much     9     when we face danger or     10    ,” Judy said.“No matter what happens, we should learn how to control our life.”

I will never forget May 15, 2011. That night, my car crashed ________ a tree and everything has changed ever since.

Do you really think so?” Jack's mother looked very glad. Dr. Johnson answered, “Mrs. Brown, your son     39     a sickness that is common(普通的) to boys at a time like this. It comes and goes quickly.” Mrs. Brown said,“But I don't understand.” “Today,” the doctor told her, “the most exciting football final of the World Cup is on TV. If Jack feels well enough     40     TV this afternoon, he will be fine when the final is over. It's the only cure I know of this sickness. Now, if you excuse me, I must     41     across the street to see the Fords boy, Steve. He seems to have the same thing as Jack has today.”

When Will Restall was in fifth grade, he received bus safety training at school. Local bus drivers taught students about how to use the buses' two-­way radios. A two-­way radio is a radio that can both send and receive messages.     42    . And they showed the students how to use them in emergency (紧急) situations. Will used what he learned to help a hurt bus driver get quick medical treatment. People in his hometown now call the 11­-year-­old boy a hero for his brave actions.

When they got there, the bus driver was awake and sitting up, but not speaking. They sent the driver to the hospital. Will and everyone else on the bus went to class as usual.
