Last summer vacation was busy and meaningful for Ainsley and Molly. The two girls worked together to     1     money for a charity. They had an     2     summer vacation. 10-year-old Ainsley and 8-year-old Molly have     3     in the same community for years.

During the vacation, they had to stay at home and they came up with an idea to open a bakery and share the food with a lot of people.

After one week of preparation, the girls started their home-based bakery and called it Rose Bakery. They baked cakes, bread and cookies by     4     and sold them to their neighbors. Then, they donated（捐赠）the money they made to the charity Feed the Front Line. It     5     free meals for the front-line workers in the pandemic（大流行病）.

The     6     parents were proud of their daughters. They said this time at home was also a learning experience for them. “They had to work out how much they spent. So it was a     7     good math lesson.” Ainsley’s mother said. “Yes. And I think they also learn that their community is much more than themselves.” Molly’s mother added.

In just a few     8    , the girls had donated more than $200 to Feed the Front Line. “It was not just a piece of cake. We had to work hard every day and try our     9     to bake good food, but it’s well worth doing. Well keep on     10     such meaningful things.” the two girls said.

Last week, my partner and I took part in a volunteer activity. We decided to send some     1     to the old people in a local nursing home (养老院).

Soon a plan was made and     2     online. My aunt and two of my friends sent me some money to buy gifts. Several days later, we met     3    lady who ran a shop. She gave us a big box of chocolate, biscuits and sweets to add     4     the presents. We collected lots of food and gifts from people and wrapped (包裹) them     5    . A man saw my post and he     6     to drive us to the nursing home. I was     7     to see people coming together to help.

Although it was the     8    time for me to go to the nursing home, I was still a little nervous. But when the nursing manager began to show us around everyone’s room, I saw the smiles and surprises on     9     faces and I was so happy to be there.

It was a wonderful experience and I strongly suggest that people do something kind as it will bring you so much     10     . Helping others will benefit (获益) yourself as well.

Jim was reading his messages while walking down the stairs. Suddenly he missed one step and fell down to the     1     of the stairs. He felt great pain in his feet and his phone was     2    . “Help! Help!” Jim shouted.

Lily and Jack walked by and found Jim. Lily tried to     3     him up. “Stop, Lily. You can’t do that. It is     4    . You may drop him and hurt him even more,” Jack said.

“What’s wrong with you?” he asked him. “I     5     move.” Jim said.

“Keep calm. We can help you,” Jack said. Then they called their school doctor and     6     Jim with the coat to keep him warm.

Several minutes later the doctor came and took Jim to the school hospital. There the doctor gave Jim some     7     help and warned him not to watch his phone while walking.

Jim would never forget this terrible experience.
