People Who Moved China—Deng Xiaolan

Deng Xiaolan volunteered to teach music in a village in Hebei province for 18 years. Because of her teaching and the       1    （能力）of her pupils, the kids from villages could sing the Olympic anthem at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics on     2    （二月）4th.

As she     3    （影响）by her parents, she learned the violin and singing when she was young. She     4    （加入）the school band after entering Tsinghua University.

In 2003, when Deng Xiaolan attended a ceremony in a village, she met a group of     5    （当地的）kids. She wanted to sing a song together with the kids, but     6    （没有一个）of them knew the well-known songs she named. “Music would make kids happier and     7    （活跃的）.” Deng said. “So I thought if I had the chance, I must teach them to sing.”

Deng has travelled between Beijing and the village since 2004 to teach the kids music. She prepared many instruments for the kids,     8    （包括）a violin and some keyboards. She also rebuilt the school houses, by     9    （筹集）money. In 2006, she set up the Malan Band.     10    （最终）, they got the chance to perform on the stage of Beijing Winter Olympics.

Nick Vujicic comes from Australia. He was born     1     December 4th, 1982. Since he was born without arms or legs, his life was full     2     difficulties. When he was a child, he wanted to kill himself many times     3     his classmates always laughed at him. However, he never     4     up. He always told himself to be thankful to dream big although he was a disabled man. To our     5    , now Nick is a leader of two companies. He becomes a real man with     6     strong heart. He is     7     at riding, swimming, playing football and so on. Now he is one of the     8     famous speakers in the world. In order to encourage people who lost their hopes, Nick traveled to     9     than 20 countries to share his personal experiences. In his speech, he always teaches people     10     to face life happily. He believes people can’t choose but can change.

Huang Fengrong is a pioneer painting artist from Fujian Province. He began trying out creative m    1     of painting around 10 years ago. He made efforts and created a new art style with great love for art. It c    2     painting with acting and lets drawing become both beautiful and humorous. Huang uses body language when painting and sometimes dances to music.

In 2010, it was the f    3     time that he showed this new form of art on TV that people had never seen before. After that, he started to create more styles of drawing. In the beginning, many people d    4     Hung’s new style, but he found some foreigners liked it. To insist on creating new things is not e    5    , and it takes a long time to have a lot of fans. He considers art as a job testing one’s true love, because there are also many d    6     in keeping a balance between making money and making people laugh. Later his special art forms caught attention from a    7    . They introduced his works to others and recommended that he should hold a show in Paris.

To his surprise, the painting show made more people interested in his art. He is praised not only in China but also around the world. It p    8     further chances for him. In the future, he wants to play a more important role in society. To encourage children to study this form or art, he started a competition c    10     “Stars of Acting Painting” recently. It is an event of 2020 Dafen International Oil Painting Show.

Wu Wei is a born artist. He is quiet and doesn’t like to talk much, but his work     1     （shout）? He has impressed the whole country with his     2     （create） work. His sculptures for Sunshine Town Square     3     （win） high praise from the art community in the past few years. “I want to share the     4     （good） art with people, so I’m always searching for something better or different, “ he said. “This in     5     （it） is great fun. I can’t be too careful when I’m working. For me,     6     （care） will be a disaster. I often work for months on one sculpture. I     7     （not have） any time for my     8     （hobby）, like listening to music or watching football. But after I finish one, I find it’s worth     9     （spend） so much time on it! I hope one day my sculptures can     10     （sell） all over the world? “
