Nowadays, phone calls and messages help us make regular(有规律的) contact(联系) with others. It means that we     1     write letters now. But a TV show, Letters Alive《见字如面》, is bringing back this old habit.

Letters Alive invites famous actors and actresses, but there are no     2     jokes or different competitions. Instead, it’s just one     3     walking up to a microphone and reading a letter.

The letters were written by people from     4     times in history. For example, in one episode(集), they read a letter written by famous writer Xiao Hong to her younger brother in 1941. The letter shows that Xiao Hong     5     her brother so much and had great hopes for his future.

“Every letter opens another world for us,” according to Guan Zhangwen, the director(导演) of the TV show. “It seems that we can     6     the real lives and feelings of the writers.”     7     its first episode on Dec. 5, Letters Alive has been widely praised. Many audiences(观众) said that it has provided a breath of fresh air to     8     TV shows.

Besides Letters Alive, some other cultural TV shows have     9     been well received by Chinese audience. They include Chinese Poetry Coperence《中国诗词大会》, a traditional Chinese poetry competition and Readers, a program that invites people     10     poems and articles they like or wrote. It suggests that cultural values and true feelings are becoming our interest.

In November 1979,pupils in England were able to watch a new TV program called Monkey.Most of them were hearing this story for the     1     time.However,this story is not new to Chinese children.The Monkey King or Sun Wukong is the main character in the     2     Chinese book Journey to the West.

The Monkey King is not just any normal monkey.In fact,he sometimes does not     3     look like a monkey!This is because he can make 72 changes to his shape and size,turning himself into different     4     and objects.But unless he can hide his tail,he cannot turn himself into a man.To fight bad people,the Monkey King     5     a magic stick.Sometimes he can make the stick so small that he can keep it in     6     ear.At other times,he is able to make it big and long.

The Monkey King has excited the children of China for many years.And as soon as the TV program     7     out more than 30 years ago,Western children became interested in     8     this story because the clever Monkey King keeps fighting to help the weak and never gives up.

Not everyone enjoys     1     talent shows. Some think that the     2     of the performers are made up. For example, some people say they are poor farmers, but in fact they are     3     actors. However, if you don’t take these shows too     4    , they are fun to watch. And one great thing about them is that they give people a chance to make their dream     5     true.
