I'm planning my summer holiday this year. I don`t know    1    I should have a lazy holiday or an exciting one. I     2    （travel）to Southern Spain with my best friends for several times, Joanna and Ling, in 2018. We stayed in a four-star hotel. It was quite expensive but we really enjoy    3    （we）and had lots of happy memories! This year, Joanna is going away with her parents to Greece, so it'll be just Ling and me. Ling wants us to go on    4    adventurous holiday in Africa. She wants to walk in the desert and sleep out in the open. Thanksgiving was just around the corner. Everything seemed fantastic. I could taste turkey and other     1     (美味的) food. Pictures of different pies, fruits and     2     (蔬菜) came into my mind.

The day before Thanksgiving, my dad told me that we needed to practice being thankful. “We’re going to help at a homeless people’s home on Thanksgiving Day.” I couldn’t     3    (相信) my ears. So we wouldn’t cook our own Thanksgiving     4     (正餐)?

The holiday wouldn’t be the same. It was too terrible.

The next morning, we got up early. I followed my father to the homeless people’s home with my     5     (想睡的) eyes. I had no great expectations and felt down all the way.

As soon as we     6     (到达) the home, we started to work. A lot of food should be prepared, but all I could think about was the food I couldn’t enjoy.

For some, this was the only hot meal they would eat during that     9     (星期). For others, it was the first time to eat a Thanksgiving meal. The place was filled with joy.
