文章大意:本文是记者对David Wolstencroft的一次采访。
【推荐3】A reporter interviewed a TV and film writer, David Wolstencroft.
Reporter: David, please introduce yourself to the public.
David: Hi! My name is David Wolstencroft and after being a writer for many years, I have written my first children’s book The Magic Hour. I’m sure you’ll love it.
Reporter: Why do you think readers will like it?
David: It’s about a girl called Ailsa Craig who is always sticking (困住) in life and learning. She sees some friends just being together so easily, but she doesn’t understand how they do it. Then Ailsa discovers that there’s a magical 25th hour in a day. And all of her high-achieving friends are already using it. But the moment Ailsa starts to use this magical extra hour in a day, things start going very badly wrong...
Reporter: That sounds interesting! And another question! What was your favorite book as a child?
David: I read The Dark Is Rising when I was about ten and it opened my eyes to what a book could do. Then I read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series and discovered that books could be smart and funny, too. Since then, in my writing, I’ve always tried to mix those two flavors (特点)—excitement and humor.
Reporter: So, when did you start writing?
David: I first started doing cartoons for my own amusement (娱乐) when I was around six. Then I realized that words expressed myself better. So when I was about ten years old, the idea of writing longer stories came to my mind, and I think I’ve been writing ever since!
Reporter: What’s your best piece of advice to young writers?
David: You will only know what your story is about when you get to the end. So I suppose my advice is: finish what you start, no matter how you feel about it; use your time as well as you can.
