As a writer, I have some free time from work. So I help at an old people’s home every Friday. I like     1     time with the old ladies and we have so many wonderful afternoons together.

My husband had to work late today. I took my son with me to the old people’s home for the first time because I didn’t find any friend to take him home.

With my new partner, I began my work.     2     we talked and laughed with the old people there, time went quickly. Soon it was time for us to leave. Before we said goodbye, my son kissed everyone on their faces and whispered (低语) in their ears. Every lady looked happy, asking     3     to bring him here again next Friday.

Later in the evening, my husband asked how my work went. “It was so much     4    ,” I said. “We were quite a pair. When Taylor kissed and whispered to the ladies, it made them     5     happy that they wanted him to go again next week.”

“What did you whisper about?” asked my husband.

Looking up at his dad and me     6     his lovely brown eyes, our son told us “I whispered, ‘I love you, Grandma! And I just want you to know that you look so beautiful today.’”

I asked, “Why did you do that?”

“But how did you know what to say?” I looked at my 8-year-old boy in surprise.

The three of us looked at each other and we all laughed so hard.

Years ago, I was on a train ride into the city when I noticed two girls and their mom getting on board. They carried two bags, which were big enough     1     (hold) what they needed for several days. One of the girls sat next to     2     old gentleman, who started talking with her.
