We all want to make the world a better place, but how to make it happen? Shawn Seipler from Orlando, USA found his _________ to his question. About 11 years ago, he started Clean the World and made a/an _________ difference to the world with something small—soap(香皂).

Shawn used to stay in around 150 hotel rooms a year on business. One day, a/an _________ came to him. What happened to all the half-used soap he left behind? He asked the front desk and they told him the soap bars would end up in landfills(填埋场). Later, Shawn found out that people were _________ about a million bars of soap every day at hotels across the USA. He was _________ and decided to do something about the “waste”.

Shawn left his _________ and started Clean the World in 2009. With the help of a few friends, he developed a way to _________ used bars of soap into new, clean ones. Then they handed out their new soap for free to children and families in _________ around the world. “Studies have shown that about 9,000 children under the age of five are dying every day because of hygiene—related (卫生相关的) disease. If we gave them soap and _________ them how and when to wash their hands, we could cut those deaths in half,” said Shawn.

After years of hard work, Clean the World has given out more than 53 million soap bars to over 127 countries. Shawn is __________ what he has done. “We are saving lives globally (全球的) and landfill space locally at the same time!”

We all heard the story of Nvwa patching up (修补) the sky with melted coloured stones. Many years passed and _______ broke out again. One of them was a big flood. It appeared in the Yellow River during the rule of Emperor Yao, and the people were forced to _______ their villages and go to live in trees or mountains.
