You can’t buy much for a dollar these days. But     1     everybody pools（汇集）their dollars together for a good reason, wonderful things can happen. That’s the story behind Anthony Talley’s $1 Thursday activity.

Anthony is a warm-hearted man and he always tries his best to help others. In 2020, a man’s house     2    （fall）down in a fire and he lost everything. To help the man build a new house. Anthony asked people around the town to donate（捐赠）just one dollar each. Luckily, Anthony raised（筹集）8,000 dollars in the end. He realized（认识到）one dollar could play such a great part in     3    （people）lives. From then on, he asked people to donate one dollar every Thursday to help     4    （many）people in need.

Anthony did a lot of good things with the money.     5     example, he bought kids clothes and shoes. He also bought ice-cream for all the     6    （child）in his neighborhood. Their smiling faces made Anthony happy. He     7    （believe）he can make a difference to the world in the future.

The class was very noisy when I came into the room after the lunch break. “Amy was fighting with Simon,” said Steve, one of the     1     (boy).

I asked both of them to come near me and listened to both versions (版本) of the fight. “I didn’t do anything. She hit me for nothing,” cried Simon. “No. He started the fight. I     2     (draw) this picture when Simon came to me and made fun of my drawing that it was not beautiful at all. I got angry and hit him,” Amy said.

Knowing that Amy was good     3     drawing, I asked to see the drawing and found it’s really beautiful.

“Simon, her drawing is very good and     4     did you say that it was not beautiful? Amy, you may go back to your seat while Simon is going to draw this picture,” I said.     5     Simon started crying and said that he didn’t do well in drawing, I insisted (坚持) that he should do it.

With much hesitation (犹豫), Simon drew the picture and     6     (bring) that to me. I asked him, “Simon, which picture is     7     (well), yours or Amy’s?” “Amy’s,” he answered. “If so, you should tell Amy     8     same.”

He walked to Amy and said, “Your drawing is better than     9     (I)” Then, he walked to his own seat. Amy     10     (sudden) walked to Simon, took Simon’s picture and said, “Your drawing is also good.”
