【推荐2】A group of people in my city spend their spare time cleaning up the countryside. They l    1     after the places where birds, insects and other animals live. Before my last birthday I was too young to join them. You have to be at least thirteen years old, and now I am.

On the first Sunday of every month we spend several hours making the countryside a good place for animals to live in and people to v    2    .

Sometimes the human beings are the cause of the problems. They find a pleasant spot for a picnic, but they do not take their litter home with them. The rubbish that they leave behind looks ugly and can harm the wildlife.

Nature also sometimes makes life d    3     for certain animals. Last Sunday we spent all afternoon c    4     overgrown plants from a river. Now the water flows freely again. The fish can swim along without anything in their way.

Some of the work we do does not have such a q    5       result. We know new trees will take several years to grow before they are big and strong enough for birds to begin nesting in their branches. But it is satisfying to know that we are doing what we can do to help.

Last January, I visited France with my parents and my younger sister who was born two years later than me. It’s my     1     (one) time to travel there. In a small town, we visited     2     Chinese restaurant and we were so surprised to find delicious Sichuan food abroad. The owner of the restaurant is a sixty-year-old man from Sichuan. He moved to the town thirteen years ago and opened     3     (he) restaurant. He has ingredients (原料) shipped     4     (direct) from Sichuan so that he can offer delicious food to people. I     5     (praise) him for his behavior in my heart.     6     he has to deal with language problems and sometimes there aren’t enough ingredients, he still tries to make Chinese food. “I just want     7     (guest) to have more chances to eat food from my homeland.” The man said.

This man has helped to spread Chinese culture by bringing Sichuan food to France. It’s the     8     (good) food I have eaten. Culture shouldn’t be     9     (separate). I think Sichuan food plays an important part     10     Chinese culture. I really enjoyed it!

In a primary school, a teacher asked her students what they wished to become when they g    1     up. There were several a    2    : a doctor, a teacher, a film-star and so on.

One of the students gave a s    3     answer. This child said, “I want to be a television!” The teacher asked the child w    4     he had such a wish. He said, with his eyes f    5     of tears (眼泪), “There is no one at home to watch me or care for me. Everyone sits around the television. If there is a    6     wrong with the TV, they give great attention to it and fix it at once.”

The loving teacher met the child’s mother and talked about it with her. The mother said, “My husband is a very busy businessman. He n    7     has time to look after the child.” “But what about you?” the teacher asked the mother. “What do you know about me? I am the head of the women’s club. I have so many meetings and a    8    .” The teacher now understood why the child f    9     lonely at home.
