This week, we speak to John Harrison, a volunteer at the Queensland Animal Shelter(昆士兰动物救助站)

John: Yes, and I have had many years’ experience with animals. I grow up with animals. I try to advise people on care of the animals.
Reporter: How long have you been a volunteer at the Queensland Animal Shelter?
John:
Reporter: What are your responsibility there?
John: Well, I work in a bank, so I know my way around financial(金融的)matters.
Reporter: So, you play an important part. What do other volunteers at the shelter do?
John: Some volunteers help out with the daily care of the animals. They feed and exercise them.
Reporter: Can you give our readers some information about adoption?
John: Before adoption, a vet(兽医) checks the animal and vaccinates(注射疫苗)it. It cost $200 to adopt an animal. Since the shelter opened in 1995, we have found homes for 3,166 dogs and 1,930 cats.
