In the evening, Dorthy decides to go into small house in the trees. She is very t    1    -and lies down on the leaves with Toto and they fall asleep. The Scarecrow stands near the door. He is very tired because he has n    2    brain.

The next morning they leave the small house and look for a stream of the fresh water. Suddenly they h    3    someone groaning. It is the Woodman, a man made of tin,holding an axe in his hands. He is not m    4    at all but groaning.

Dorthy r    5    back to the house and finds the oilcan the Tin Woodman tells her. Then she puts some oil on his necks,arms and legs. He turns his head and bends his arms and legs“when it r    6    ,I get wet and then I can’t move”. The Woodman say“Who are you?”

I am Dorthy and this is the Scarecrow .   Dorthy explains“we are going to see the great OZ in the Emerald City”. I want to ask send me b    7    Kansas. The Scarecrow wants to ask for a b    8    .”“Can OZ give me a heart?” The Woodman asks “I don’t   know”, Dorthy a    9    .“Come with us and ask him.”

They all start w    10    back to the yellow brick road.

When night came,the chicken flew up to a     1     and slept there,and the dog found a hole in the same tree and slept in    2    .Early the next morning,the chicken woke up and began to crow(啼叫).

A hungry fox     3     the crowing and wanted to catch the chicken for his dinner.    4     the fox said to the chicken,“What     5     beautiful morning it is!I want to talk to you,you have a very sweet     6    .Won’t you come down and have a talk with me?”

“Thank you,Mr.Fox.But why don’t you come     7     here?It is very nice and it’s cool here,”said the chicken.“All right,I will.But how can I climb up?”asked the fox.“Just go around the trunk(树干),and    8     up my friend in the hole.He will     9     the door for you,”said the chicken.The fox went    10     the hole.And the dog ran out,jumped upon the fox and killed it at once.

Should you help them when the old fall down on the street? At 9:00 a.m. yesterday, a bus driver, 24-year-old Wang Ping saw a man     1     (lie) on the side of the road. A woman next to him was shouting for     2     . Wang Ping stopped the bus     3     thinking twice. He got off and asked the woman what     4     (happen). She said that the man had a     5     [hɑ:t] problem and should be sent to the hospital at once. Mr. Wang knew that he had to act     6     (quick). He hoped all of the passengers could get     7     and wait for the next bus. But to his     8     [sə'praɪz], they all agreed to go with him. Some passengers helped Mr. Wang move the man onto the bus.

Thanks to Mr. Wang and the passengers, the doctors saved the man     9     (successful) in time. A passenger says, “Many people don’t want to help others because they don’t want to get into trouble.” But the driver thought     10     ['nʌθɪŋ] about himself. He only thought about saving a life.
