Something bad happened toSam this morning. He fell over and broke his nose in the school hallway. When Sam looked up, he saw his friends. “Are you OK?” They asked him. We laughed just because Jenny told us a joke,” his friends said. “Well, I’m sorry. Can you forgive me?” “Yes, of course. But next time you should ask us before you assume(假定)something.” They looked at each other and laughed happily. They were still friends.

A donkey looked in through the window and saw the man and the dog.

“Why does not he make me a pet?” said the donkey. “It is not fair. I work hard, but the dog only wags (摇) its tail, and barks, and jumps on the master’s knee. It is not fair.” Then the donkey said to himself, “If I do what the dog does, he may make a pet of me.”

The donkey decided to learn what the dog did. So it ran into the room. It brayed (驴叫) as loudly as it could. It wagged its tail so hard that it knocked over a jar (坛子) on the table. Then it tried to jump onto its master’s knee.
