My friend Abdul lives in a house near school. He walks to school almost every day. Sometimes he takes a bus if it is cold and rainy outside. Abdul shares the house with Pablo. They go to the same school. They always take English classes together. Abdul speaks Arabic(阿拉伯语) as his first language, and Prablo speak Spanish. Sometimes Abdul tries to teach Pablo to speak a little Arabic, and Pablo gives Abdul Spanish lessons. They laugh a lot during the Arabic and Spanish lessons. Abdul enjoys having Pablo as his roommate, but he misses his family back in his country.

As we know, friendship plays an important part in our life. Although friendship may mean something different from one country to another, people from all over the world think sharing something with their friends is a good way to make them happier.

Many studies show that people are more likely to forget their problems and feel better if they spend time with their friends. It’s sure that we are all parts of society. We all need friends. But our friends make a difference to us in different ways.

If our friends are similar to us, they can always touch our hearts and make us laugh easily because they know us well. We don’t need to guess what our friends are thinking about. It seems that we can see each other’s heart clearly. If our friends are different from us, it’s a good idea to help each other. We can both bring out the best in each other as long as we keep learning from each other. So you see, a good friend should be someone who truly cares about us. We don’t need to tell ourselves to find a friend who is the same as us or different from us. What really matters is whether your friend cares about you.

Once there was a girl called Iris who really liked playing football with the boys in her class. She was special because she never liked to do the things other girls do.

The boys in her class liked Iris to play with them because she was a better football player.

One day, Iris’ girl friends began to ignore her just because she liked football. Iris felt very grieved, but she couldn’t understand why.

One morning, Iris saw her friend Caroline and decided to talk to her:

“Hi Caroline. Why don’t you want me as your friend? Is it because I like to play football with the boys?”

“Yes, because you look like a boy, you play football or ride a bike with the boys.”

That stupid reason affected Iris, who answered: “I play with the boys because you don’t like playing sport and I do. But I also like to play with you and that should not be an inconvenience”.

Days passed and one morning Caroline and the other girls went over to Iris.

“Iris, we have been thinking about what you said and you’re right. If you like to play football, it doesn’t mean you are a boy, and if you like to be with us, well then we like it too. Our friendship is the most important here, so, we are sorry, and we will ________”.

That’s how Iris’ friends learnt to respect people and also learnt that there are no sports for girls or boys, there are just sports for those who like to play them.
