“Class, please welcome Brady Walker. He is a new student in our class.” Ms. Miller says. Then, she asks Brady to say something about himself.
“I am from California,” says Brady. “I like playing basketball, and I take a dance (舞蹈) class, too.”
“Dance class?” Alan says, “That’s for girls!”
The class laugh (大笑) and I find Brady’s face red.
That afternoon, I see Brady playing basketball on the school playground. He is great.
The next day, we have a P.E. class. The teacher says we are playing basketball. “Paul and John will be captains (队长). Paul, you can pick first.”
I look around and see Brady. I tell my teacher I want Brady in my team. Alan says, “What? Can he play basketball? Basketball is not dance.”
Brady asks me why I pick him.
“I know you can play basketball and you love it.”
Then we start playing and Brady makes ten baskets and steals (抢断) the ball four times. “Wow,” Alan says to Brandy, “Where do you learn (学习) these moves (动作)?” When Brady says he learns those from the dance class, Alan is surprised (惊奇的), “Can you teach me?” he asks.
After that, Brady, Alan, and I become good friends and we often show our “basketball dance” on the playground.
