"Call Me a Snow Cat One More Time"

Are we the only ones that think this cat looks like the terrible snowman? Or it's a black cat that is desperately trying to make its way through a cloud. Obviously, it is failing and getting stuck. Poor thing. Now he just looks like he wants to attack whoever thought it was a good idea to take this picture. Let's hope the hateful cat finds some humor in his situation.

This Cat Always Looks Upset

Poor cat. No one should look upset all the time. His human probably thinks he's the saddest kitty in all the land, thanks to those two pencil-thin 90s eyebrows(眉毛)on the top of his head. And, of course, with those markings on his all-white body, it does look super cute. But, hey, something had to match his brows! It's called fashion.

Hitler the Cat

Don't judge Hitler the cat just because he looks like one of the worst dictators in all of human history. It's not his fault that his markings came out looking like a Charlie Chaplin mustache. Of course, his evil green eyes aren't really helping the overall beauty of the creature. But, again, maybe he can't help that he looks as if he's about to tear its human into pieces.

A Forever Monkey Hug

Even if no one gives this cat hugs, it doesn't matter. He has a forever friend on his back at all times. This kitty's black marking is in the very obvious shape of a monkey. This is the type of friend everyone needs. Only, maybe with a real thing and not something that is already part of your body.

A teenager in Georgia will no longer have to walk 7 miles to work after school thanks to one woman’s act of kindness.

Jayden Sutton, a high school senior, went on foot each day from school to his job at a restaurant and then back home. Sutton was determined to work and make enough money to eventually buy his own vehicle.

Sutton said he’d leave school at 3:30 pm, then walk miles to his job at the restaurant. After his work, which usually lasted six to eight hours, he walked home, sometimes not arriving back until almost midnight.

That all changed when Myers saw him walking down the road in the rain in December. “The young man was insistently in a rush walking to work, saying ‘I can’t be late,’” Myers said. “He begged me to give him a ride. I told him I could take him as far as I was going. I began to create small talk along the way. It was revealed to me that his name was Jayden, 12th grader, worked 40 hours a week, walked 5 miles to work immediately after school, got off at 10:30 pm at night and walked back home another 5 miles if co-workers didn’t offer a ride.”

After dropping Sutton off, Myers said his heart and determination filled her with tears. “He was smiling in good spirits and that’s a child worth blessing,” she told Fox News. So, Myers shared Sutton’s story on the GoFundMe page, which raised more than $ 9, 000 from 186 donors.

She surprised Sutton with a new car after she managed to convince the general manager to drop the price of the vehicle to meet the budget.

A.Known.B.Attached.C.Believed.D.Limited.
7. What do we know about the money donated online?
A.It could buy more than a new car.

Technology is widely available to students in classrooms across the United States, a new study shows. Nearly nine in 10 U. S. public school students say they use digital learning tools at least a few days a week. And more than half of those who were questioned said they used digital technology to learn.

In the new survey, digital learning tools means technology. It includes websites, application software programs, and online classes, games, videos and programs. The survey found that classroom technology gets high marks from educators. At least eight in 10 teachers and school leaders say they see great value in using classroom technology tools now and in the future.

When it comes to preparing students for future careers(职业), the study found that educators are likely to say technology is more effective than non-digital tools for connecting learning to students’ careers.

Derek Kelley of Virginia agrees. He manages technology for Fairfax County Public Schools, which serves nearly 200,000 students. He said, “The important thing is to help prepare the students for real world experience and knowledge about technology is something students need.”

In the report, more than half of the special education teachers questioned said technology could help their students. Tony Daniel, a special education teacher, agrees with that. He teaches children with learning difficulties at the Springfield Estates Elementary School in Springfield, Virginia.

Nearly all pupils say digital learning tools are fun. Most say the technology helps them learn things on their own and at their own speed.

Almost three-fourths of secondary students say the technology tools help them learn things on their own. Over 5,000 said they make school more interesting. 42% would like to use it more often at school, and only 800 said they would like to use them less. One thing everyone agrees on is that technology is here to stay in American classrooms.

8. What do educators think of technology according to paragraph 3?
A.It saves a lot of learning time for students.
B.It makes teachers and students communicate more easily.
C.It offers much fun to students in learning process.
D.It mixes education with career more effectively.
9. What can digital learning tools do for pupils?
A.Offer them high marks.B.Help them learn with their own steps.
C.Speed up their physical growth.D.Force them to learn at home.
10. What are the figures in the last paragraph about?
A.Students of different grades.B.The advantages of technology.
C.Students’ views on technology.D.The development of technology.
11. What can be the best title for the text?
A.Technology Will Replace Traditional Teaching
B.Educators and Students Admit Technology Value
C.Technology Completely Changed Our Society
D.The Use of Technology in Teaching Is under Discussion

Researchers in the African country of Niger have introduced a new vaccine that protects against the diarrheal disease called rotavirus(轮状病毒). A scientific test has shown that the new vaccine is effective, safe and easy to use. Experts believe it will be more widely used than the two rotavirus vaccines now given to children.

The new vaccine is important because rotavirus is a serious illness that can lead to death. It kills more than 215,000 children each year—about 600 a day. Two vaccines against rotavirus are already available. However, they are costly and difficult to use.

They must also be kept cold. In many African countries where people suffer from rotavirus, refrigeration and electricity are unreliable. As a result, the existing rotavirus vaccines are not widely used.

Researchers have been working on a new vaccine for rotavirus called BRV-PV. They have recently tested the vaccine with young children in Niger. Researchers gave 1,780 babies the BRV-PV vaccine. Only 31 cases of rotavirus developed in those babies. The researchers say the clinical trial shows that BRV-PV was nearly 67 percent effective.

Dr. Emmanuel Baron is the director of Epicentre, a research group that is part of Doctors Without Borders, an aid group. Epicentre researchers conducted the clinical trial. “We saw actually three things. The first is that this vaccine is efficient. The second is that this vaccine is safe. And we also saw a good acceptability by both the care providers and the families.”

The new vaccine does not need refrigeration for up to six months. Medical workers mix it with liquid and give it to babies three times: when they are 6 weeks old, 10 weeks old, and 14 weeks old.

The vaccine is expected to cost $ 6. The price will likely drop as more people are given the vaccine.

Baron says medical workers in countries where rotavirus is a serious health threat are waiting for the World Health Organization to give the green light to the vaccine. Then, medical workers can start giving the new vaccine to children.

12. What does the author think of the new vaccine?
A.It is difficult to promote it.B.It has saved a lot of lives of babies.
C.It has been widely used in the world.D.It has advantages over the old ones.
13. What can we learn about the existing vaccines?
A.They are not safe.B.They are not effective.
C.They are inconvenient to store.D.They are difficult to buy.
14. What was Dr. Emmanuel Baron's attitude towards the new vaccine?
A.He spoke highly of it.B.He threw doubt on it.
C.He felt sorry about it.D.He thought it needed improving.
15. Which of the following matches the present situation of the new vaccine?
A.It is not allowed to use by WHO.B.It is waiting for an official permit.
C.It is being tested on young children.D.It is becoming more expensive.
