The State of Colorado has four of the best parks out of the 58 national parks in the United States. The parks have some of the best scenery of all the national parks.

Black Canyon (峡谷)of Gunnison National park

This park offers the most breathtaking views from up in the mountains into the canyons below. While traveling throughout this park you will notice two very different climates because of the difference the upper peaks of the Rocky Mountains make. You can enjoy 359 miles of hiking trails, a lot of places for camping, horseback riding and beautiful scenery.

Mesa Verde National Park

This is probably the most interesting national park, offering a fascinating trip back in time to 600 AD up to 1300 AD. This park was declared a protected national park in 1906 because of the cliff dwellings (住所) that were found throughout the area, which were once home to American Indians. Many of these dwellings can be walked through, while you imagine what each room may have been used for so many years ago.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要描述了尽管人们看电视越来越多,但阅读在人们的日常生活中仍然是必需的。

Some people think that as more and more people have televisions in their homes, fewer and fewer people will buy books and newspapers. Why read an article in the newspaper, when the TV news can bring you the information in a few minutes and with pictures? Why read the life story of a famous man, when a short television program can tell you all that you want to know?

Television has not killed reading, however. Today, newspapers sell in very large numbers. And books of every kind are sold more than ever before. Books are still a cheap way to get information and enjoyment. Although some books with hard covers are expensive, many books are printed today as paperbacks (平装本), which are quite cheap. A paperback collection of short stories, for example, is always cheaper than an evening at the cinema or the theater, and you can keep a book for ever and read it many times.

Books are a wonderful provider of knowledge and pleasure and some types of books should be in every home. Every home should have a good dictionary. A good encyclopedia (百科全书),though expensive, is useful, too, because you can find information on any subject. Besides, you can have such books as history books, science textbooks, cookbooks, and collections of stories and poems. Then from time to time you can take a book of poems off your shelves and read the thoughts and feelings of your favorite poets.

8. It can be inferred from the passage that_________.
A.TV programs are a chief provider of knowledge
B.cinemas are the best choice in getting information
C.reading is a cheap way of learning and having fun
D.newspapers are an expensive way to enjoy oneself
9. What does the sentence “Television has not killed reading, however.” underlined in the second paragraph suggest?
A.People only need reading, though.
B.Reading is still necessary today.
C.Reading is more fun than television.
D.Watching television doesn’t help reading.
10. Where can you probably see this passage?
A.In a travel booklet.
B.In a science report.
C.In a fashion show magazine.
D.In an education book review.

Tips for Procrastinators (拖延者)

You manage to finish and hand the project in on time, but you feel exhausted. Then, your teacher says, “Get ready. We will start the test in 5 minutes.”     11

Many of us are guilty of delaying doing what we should do. At the same time, we might risk missing a deadline and not getting a good mark. It is also very stressful. Here are some tips for procrastinators on how to get your work done ahead of time.

Create a to-do list. Creating a list will help organize your work and ideas while keeping you on track.     12     Keep it up to date by checking off completed tasks as you go along. This will keep you focused and orderly.

13     Chances are, you won’t be able to get a lot of work done when you’re tired. Finding a time of day when you are full of energy will get you to be more productive.

Choose reliable study partners. Working with study partners will encourage you to complete the task at hand and ensure that you remain focused.     14

Divide the work into smaller parts. Procrastination is often a reaction to feeling overwhelmed (无法对付的). Dividing work into smaller parts will make it easy to handle.     15     You will find your ability and be more likely to finish what you need to do.

Hopefully these tips will help you do away with the stressful, last-minute efforts of a procrastinator.

A.Work when you’re feeling energetic.
B.Remind yourself to turn off all the devices.
C.You forgot that there’s also an examination today.
D.Try to encourage yourself to stick to your work plan.
E.Deal with your tasks a bit at a time instead of wasting time wondering where to start.
