文章大意:这是一篇新闻报道。Massimo Bottura是一位著名的厨师,他创建了广泛流传的餐厅Refettorio Ambrosiano,利用超市垃圾做成美食为需要的人提供食物,同时减少食物浪费。

Massimo Bottura is a widely celebrated cook. A restaurant he opened 27 years ago in Italy has twice been named the best in the world. Today, Bottura’s cooking empire spreads from Dubai, in the Middle East, to Beverly Hills, California.

At Refettorio Ambrosiano, the menu changes daily, depending on what comes with the morning’s delivery. By dinner, these supermarket wastes have been transformed (转化). The 100 or so diner — refugees (难民), the homeless, and the unemployed — enjoy the meal with obvious pleasure. Meals of charge for people in need. Bottura’s Refettorios are not restaurants — they’re actually soup kitchens (施食处). But Bottura would not call them that. He thinks of them as places that shine a light on the dignity of their guests while focusing attention on the food-waste problem.

Bottura came up with the idea of Refettorio Ambrosiano in 2015. He wanted to invite the world’s best cooks to cook with him for the city’s homeless and turned an abandoned theater into a dining room for people in need.

Turning basic materials into delicious meals in Bottura’s magic. He says his grandmother taught him how to make “the original no-waste kitchen”. Cooks at Bottura’s restaurants learn his approach to cooking. But they also learn about his belief in making a difference in people’s lives. “Everybody has the ability to contribute to positive change. It starts with all of us, in our own kitchens,” Bottura says. It starts by looking at an old carrot or a broken piece of bread and catching a shine of gold.

“The are 8 billion people on Earth. We produce enough food for 12 billion people,” Massimo Bottura says. “Every year, more than a billion tons of food ends up wasted. As a result, 820 million people don’t have enough to eat. And food waste is responsible for 10% of global greenhouse emissions (排放).”

4. Where do the Refettorios’ meal materials come from?
A.Social contribution.B.Supermarket wastes.
C.Government supply.D.Products made by themselves.
5. Which of the following can best replace the underlined part “shine a light on the dignity of” in paragraph 2?

C.show respect forD.get praises from

A.To create the most popular kitchen.B.To teach his cooking magic.

A.The waste of food.B.Global greenhouse emissions.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一本由六个故事组成的创造性故事书《冰淇淋机》。

The Ice Cream Machine is no ordinary tale. It’s a flavorful (好味道的) book made up of six stories, all of which have the same title, but each has a different story centering on one subject, ice cream.

One ice-cream story focuses on a boy and his robot in the distant future. Another is about a father and daughter who invent an ice-cream machine. My favorite story in the book talks about two sisters, Pam and Penelope, who try to enter an ice-cream-eating contest. The six stories go with black-and-white illustrations (插图) from six different artists.

The Ice Cream Machine is inventive and fun. Its author, Adam Rubin, has a lot of experience when it comes to writing about food. His most famous children’s book is Dragons Love Tacos. It was a No.1 New York Times best-seller. “I like to write about food because it’s universally beloved by people of all different cultures,” Rubin says. “It’s something we can all relate to.”

Rubin hopes The Ice Cream Machine inspires kids to write. Its jacket turns into an envelope in which readers can send him their stories. Rubin says writers should write about things they like. “If you’re trying to write something that someone else likes, you might not get it right. Then no one’s happy,” he says. “But if you focus on writing about something that you like, then it’s fun. When it makes you happy, your writing will bring joy.”

I recommend The Ice Cream Machine to anyone who likes creative storytelling. The book goes down just like ice cream: smooth, enjoyable, and with a pleasant aftertaste.

Rubin’s favorite flavor of ice cream? “Chocolate chip,” he says. Don’t tell him, but the best flavor is actually birthday cake!

8. Why does Adam Rubin like writing about food?
A.People around the world show interest in food.B.Many different books focus on food.
C.Food is the symbol of different cultures.D.Food is the material base of human life.
9. What does Adam Rubin inspire children to write about?
A.Something connected with food.
B.What other people like.
C.What happens to them.
D.Something they enjoy.

A.It has six stories with different titles.B.It contains many colorful illustrations.

名校
文章大意:这是一篇说明文。机器学习是教计算机完成任务的一种方式,是人工智能的一种强大形式,文章对此进行了详细介绍。

Machine learning is a way of teaching computers to do tasks. In the past, to do anything, computers depended on detailed, step-by-step instructions written by a person. But with machine learning, computers pick up new skills on their own, using examples or experience. This makes machine learning a powerful form of artificial intelligence, or AI. AI is the ability of a machine to think or learn like a person. AI systems power many kinds of machines — from smartphones to robots.

There are a few types of machine learning. The most common is supervised (监督的) learning. In this method, a computer is fed lots of sorted training data (数据). For example, it may look at many photos of dogs. Each photo might be sorted by the dog’s kind. By studying those photos, the computer learns what each kind of dog looks like. Then, the computer can pick out dog kinds in new, unsorted photos. The more data the computer studies, the better it gets at its task.

Another important kind of machine learning is reinforcement (强化) learning. Using this type of learning is sort of like training your dog to do a trick (把戏). The computer learns to achieve some goal by interacting with its environment. When the computer makes a choice that brings it closer to its goal, it gets a virtual reward. Through trial and or, the computer learns to make better choices. This type of machine learning has helped computers master difficult games like Go and StarCraft II. It has also been used to teach self-driving cars how to get around.

Machine learning has helped create technology all around us. It powers language translators and search engines. When your streaming services recommend new shows you might like, that’s machine learning at work. Machine learning systems also organize posts in social media feeds. They even help judge diseases. In many ways, the problem-solving power of machine learning is reshaping the world.

12. What can we know about machine learning from the text?
A.It directs computers to follow programs.B.It makes computers run under no control.
C.It is a form of artificial intelligence.D.It is a kind of function of all computers.
13. How can computers learn better in supervised learning?
A.By studying as much data as possible.B.By following step-by-step instructions.
C.By telling differences between dog kinds.D.By making as many attempts as possible.
14. What do computers learn in reinforcement learning?
A.Doing tricks.B.Setting goals.
C.Making choices.D.Simplifying steps.
15. What is the author’s attitude to machine learning?
A.Uncaring.B.Doubtful.C.Unclear.D.Supportive.
