Choosing a major, which is the specialized area of your college study, can be overwhelming. But have no fear! Your choice of major will not lock you into a specific career for the rest of your life.     11     Consider these factors when picking your major.

Choose a major because it will prepare you for a specific career path or advanced study. Maybe you already know that you want to be a nurse, a day trader, or a web developer. Before you declare, talk to students in the department of your choice.     12     Earning Potential

Future earning potential is worth considering.     13     While college can pay you            back in many ways beyond salary, this can be a major factor for students who are paying their own way or taking out loans. According to PayScale.com, the majors that lead to the highest salaries include just about any type of engineering, computer science, physics, government, and economics.     14     That six figure salary may not be worth it if   you're not happy at the office.

Some students choose a major simply because they love the subject matter. If you love what you're studying, you're more likely to fully engage with your classes and college experience. That can mean better grades and great relationships with others in your field.

If you truly have no idea what you want to study, that's okay. Many schools don't require students to declare a major until you are a second-year student. Then you will have enough time to find what you are fit for.

Before being called as an employment specialist, however, Miguelina didn’t even know that the employment center had existed. She had no idea what she should do in her career. As she studied and learned, she discovered what she could do. She decided to take over the Career Workshop(就业讲习班) the employment center offered so she could get a better idea of what people were learning.

She learned so much from the Career Workshop. Now the first thing she tells those who come to her finding employment help is to sign up for the Career Workshop.

Because of her successful experience of the workshop, Miguelina helps others look for jobs, or better education chances, or small-business chances. She helps people find short training classes to give them the skills they need to find better jobs. Miguelina helps people in all areas of life from practical advice to encouragement.
