A: Yes. Each time you apply for a new JO, we recommend that you review your Application and update it, if appropriate, or target it to better reflect your suitability for the new JO. Your updates will not affect the content of Applications previously submitted against other JOs.
Q: Must I use up all the available characters in each section of my Application?
A: No. In fact, doing so may result in an unnecessary lengthy Application. Unless you have an enormous range of experiences, there is no reason to use up all the space given. Applicants are encouraged to list their duties and achievements in a clear and brief manner.

New York’s Underside

A dangerous job

Since I was a boy, I have always looked down open manholes with curiosity, so I welcomed the opportunity to explore and write about the world beneath New York City. With a group of 11 “sandhogs” — the nickname for the workers who build New York’s underground — boarded a slow, shaky elevator lit by a single light bulb. Slowly we went down a shaft dug through 200 meters of rock. The sandhogs were building a new tunnel to bring water into the city, The present tunnel system carries more than 5.6 billion liters of water every day. That’s enough water to fill more than 2,200 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

As we descended, it got dark and the air got cool. I looked up into darkness and down into deeper blackness, then the elevator stopped, and everyone got out. Then came the hard part, climbing another 10 meters down a long, slippery metal ladder. At the bottom was a dark tunnel filled with dust and smoke. Sandhogs were using explosives like dynamite to cut through the solid rock. The tunnel extends slowly — only four meters a day — and with each day come new dangers. Sandhogs live in constant fear of being hurt by sharp pieces of exploded rock. Their bodies are covered in such scars.

“Why do this work?” I asked Brian Gallagher, a sandhog for 16 years. Brian’s father was a sandhog, too, but it is not tradition that brought him here. “It’s the money,” he said. An experienced sandhog earns over $100,000 a year. The rewards are well deserved. A sandhog’s chances of dying on the job are far greater than those of an above-ground construction worker, or even a New York City police officer.“Everything down here can kill you,“ one sandhog said. They know many more workers will die before the tunnel is completed.

A river of sewage

On another trip below the city, sewer worker Jeff Kwami showed me how the city’s sewage is kept flowing smoothly. We went down a manhole wearing plastic bodysuits, gloves, and tanks of air. Everything around us was wet and slippery, as we climbed carefully down 12 meters and then stopped on a narrow concrete step. In front of me was a fast-moving river of sewage nearly two meters wide. It smelled awful. I asked Kwami, “What happens if you fall in and you’re not attached to a rope?” He said if you didn’t pull yourself out, you’d drown in the sewage. But unlike the dangers sandhogs face, such situations are rare. As we move through the sewer, Kwami seems calm and confident, but it’s still a terrifying thought.

Later, as we left the darkness and danger below, Kwami joked, “See any alligators?” Over the years, there have been stories about giant alligators living in the sewers. I tell Kwami that in 1935, the New York Times reported an alligator was pulled from a sewer. He still didn’t believe it, and we laugh together as we climb back to the surface.

HARDCORE TANO*C is an independent Japanese music label that is known for releasing music compilations and albums focused on various forms of hardcore techno such as UK hardcore, happy hardcore, and gabber. The label was founded in 2003 by Yoshikazu Nagai (who at the time used the Akai Hito alias), originally under the name of Hardcore Tanoshii, but changed to its current name of HARDCORE TANO*C in 2007 after the release of the album HARDCORE SYNDROME. The label features a store which sells the most notable doujin (同人)music releases, and is well known for their frequent live events that are regularly organized throughout the years, including the annual TANO*C TOUR series of events and the S2TBTANO*C events done in collaboration with kors k’s S2TB Recording label.

From 2011 to 2018, HARDCORE TANO*C were very closely linked with BEMANI, most notably in beat mania IIDX and SOUND VOLTEX. Many of HARDCORE TANO*C’s members were frequent contributors to BEMANI,and KONAMI even collaborated with the label for a few of their own album releases. Their presence also expanded to various other music game titles.

Many guest artists have appeared in HARDCORE TANO*C compilations, including Ryu☆, kors k, DJ Shimamura, m1dy, M-Project, JAKAZiD (as Joshka), Hommarju, Camellia, lapix, C-Show, Maozon, Nhato, Dustvoxx, and Akira Complex.

By the end of 2017, HARDCORE TANO*C has started to produce major artist album releases, containing licensed works done for music games by the circle’s artists. From September 2018, a sub-label directed by DJ Myosuke named HARDCORE TANO*C HARD has been established, which focuses on harsher music. HARDCORE TANO*C is also heavily involved in the 2019 rhythm game WACCA, which is published by MARVELOUS!, with nearly its entire staff contributing to the game.

A song composed by various members of HARDCORE TANO*C, BATTLE NO.1, was planned to be in SOUND VOLTEX IV HEAVENLY HAVEN for the The 8th KONAMI Arcade Championship, under the artist name of TANO*C SOUND TEAM. KONAMI rejected the song (likely due to their poking fun (打趣) of the BEMANI Sound Team moniker, which was at its most extreme in the time of that event), and it later appeared instead in the HARDCORE TANO*C-produced game WACCA on August 1st, 2019. It also appeared in lowiro’s Arcaea as part of the Arcaea× HARDCORE TANO*C Collaboration (联动) and SEGA’s maimai でらっくす Splash. It was added to Muse Dash on February 5, 2021.

Most managers can identify the major trends of the day. But in the course of conducting research in a number of industries and working directly with companies, we have discovered that managers often fail to recognize the less obvious but profound ways these trends are influencing consumers’ aspirations, attitudes, and behaviors. This is especially true of trends that managers view as peripheral to their core markets. Experts from Harvard Business School give some advice to managers.

One strategy, known as ‘infuse and augment’, is to design a product or service that keeps most of the attributes and functions of existing products in the category but adds others that address the needs and desires unleashed by a major trend. A case in point is the Poppy range of handbags, which the firm Coach created in response to the economic downturn of 2008. The Coach brand had been a symbol of wealth and luxury for nearly 70 years, and the most obvious reaction to the downturn would have been to lower prices. However, that would have risked cheapening the brand’s image. Instead, they initiated a consumer-research project which revealed that customers were eager to lift themselves and the country out of tough times. Using these insights, Coach launched the lower-priced Poppy handbags, which were in bright colors, and looked more youthful and playful than conventional Coach products. Creating the sub-brand allowed Coach to avoid an across-the-board price cut. In contrast to the many companies that responded to the recession by cutting prices, Coach saw the new consumer mindset as an opportunity for innovation and renewal.

A more radical strategy is ‘combine and transcend’. This involves combining aspects of the product’s existing value proposition with attributes addressing changes arising from a trend, to create a novel experience - one that may land the company in an entirely new market space. At first glance, spending resources to incorporate elements of a seemingly irrelevant trend into one’s core offerings sounds like it’s hardly worthwhile. But consider Nike’s move to integrate the digital revolution into its reputation for high-performance athletic footwear. In 2006, they teamed up with technology company Apple to launch Nike+, a digital sports kit comprising a sensor that attaches to the running shoe and a wireless receiver that connects to the user’s iPod. By combining Nike’s original value proposition for amateur athletes with one for digital consumers, the Nike+ sports kit and web interface moved the company from a focus on athletic apparel to a new plane of engagement with its customers.

プロジェクトセカイカラフルステージ!feat. 初音ミク(Project SEKAI Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku)is a rhythm game jointly developed by SEGA, Craft Egg, and Crypton Future Media, and produced by SEGA Games and Craft Egg’s subsidiary Colorful Palette. About the Project SEKAI

The Project SEKAI Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku primarily takes the real world area near Shibuya, Japan as its backdrop.    16     ,singing songs created by various creators as virtual singers. The other stage, “SEKAI”(“world”), originates from the realm of thought, where numerous songs are also created. One of the main characters, “Shino Ichigo”, serendipitously encounters Hatsune Miku here.

In addition to Shino Ichigo, the game features other characters with their own aspirations.Initially released, five distinct groups emerged, each with their own “aspirations”, “worlds”, and “musical styles”. The developers also mentioned the potential addition of new groups in the future. Furthermore, unlike previous rhythm games LoveLive and BanG Dream, which feature a predominantly male or female cast, PJSK includes both all-female and mixed-gender groups.

Game Features

Regarding the storyline, players will navigate between the ”real world“ and the ”world“. The storyline dialogue scenes feature Live2D technology, and players can unlock new clothing, songs, and other elements as they progress through the story. Additionally, characters featured in 3DMV can be freely customized, and clothing purchased in the real world will be showcased in 3DMV. Players can appreciate the vivid and beautiful 3DMV with their favorite characters or designs.

As for the gameplay, commands will appear in a top-down format, coordinating with rhythm and various commands to create combos. During gameplay, the background will showcase 3DMV animations produced by SEGA Games for players’ enjoyment. However, considering the impact of the songs themselves, some tracks will be presented in the 2DMV format.

The game features three types of notes: single tap (TAP), flick (FLICK), and hold (HOLD).    18    The difficulty of songs ranges from the easiest ”Easy“ to the most challenging ”Master,“ divided into five stages, allowing players to freely select a difficulty level that suits their play style.
