The Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of North Georgia seeks to hire a part-time instructor of Chinese for the Fall Term 2017. Depending on enrollments（登记人数）, the opportunity could continue in the spring and be ongoing.

Teaching schedules may include evening or online classes.

The candidate should have a Master’s degree in Chinese or related field.

Native or near-native fluency in Chinese.

If you received any graduate degrees from an institution outside the United States, you must provide a foreign course-by-course evaluation by an independent evaluation service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service, Inc.

When we think of leadership, we often think of power and strength. But leadership today is not about forcing others to do things. If this is even possible, it is short-term, and tends to backfire. If you order someone to do something against their will, they may do it because they feel it a must, but the anger they feel will do more harm to them in the long term. They will also experience fear.

Fear causes the thinking brain to shut down, making the person unable to function at his or her best. If they connect you with this emotion of fear, they will become less productive around you, and you will have ended up in not only shooting yourself in the foot, but possibly making every good employee or partner unable to work effectively. Fear has no place in leadership.

The way we influence people in a lasting way is by our own character, and our understanding and use of emotion. We can order someone to do something, which may be part of the workday; or we can employ him or her at the emotional level, so they put their heart fully into the projects and provide some of their own creation. Today’s work place is all about relationships.

People work harder in a positive environment where they’re recognized and valued as a human being as well as a worker. Everyone produces just a bit more for someone they like. Leaders understand the way things work. They know the payment is not the only most inspiring factor in the work life of most people.

The true strength of leadership is an inner strength that comes from the confidence of emotional intelligence – knowing your own emotions, and how to handle them, and those of others. Developing your emotional intelligence is the best thing you can do if you want to develop your relationships with people around you, which is the key to the leadership skills.

Taylor Swift added another great honor this year—the first-ever Taylor Swift Award—at the 64^th yearly BMI Pop Awards.

Held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, the ceremony honored the writers and publishers of the most-performed pop songs during the past year. The Taylor Swift Award was a recognition（认可）of both Swift’s musical influence and creative gift.

In her acceptance speech, Swift said that she was happy to get the award named after her. “It is really a relief that BMI decided to give me the Taylor Swift Award, because if they had chosen somebody else to give it to, I’d be like kind of angry about it.” the singer joked.

This eponymous（同名的）award marked only the second time in BMI’s history that the organization has presented an award in an artist’s name. Michael Jackson, a legendary（传奇的）artist, was the first to get that honor in 1990.

“Taylor Swift is one of the most popular singers in US. She has shown pop culture through her songs,” said Barbara Cane, BMI’s Vice President of Writer/ Publisher Relations, “She has had a deep influence, not only musically, but also through her personal belief and commitment to create a standard that values and respects music for everyone. We felt it suitable to award Taylor with an honor that is an special as she is.”

Swift also claimed four of the year’s most-performed songs to earn the honor of Pop Songwriter of the Year.

According to a new study by a British university, learning a second language can lead to an increase in your brain power. Researchers found that learning other languages changes grey matter. This is the area of the brain which processes information. It is similar to the way that exercise builds muscles.

The study also found the effect is greater when the younger people learn a second language. A team led by Dr. Andrea Mechelli, from University College London, took a group of Britons who only spoke English. They were compared with a group of bilinguals who had learnt a second language before the age of five, as well as a number of later learners.

Scans showed that grey matter density(密度)in the brain was greater in bilinguals than in people without a second language.

“Our findings suggest that the structure of the brain is changed by the experience of learning a second language,” said the scientists. It means that the change itself increases the ability to learn.

Professor Dylan Vaughan Jones of the University of Wales, has researched the link between bilingualism and maths skills. “Having two languages gives you two windows on the world and makes the brain more flexible,” he said. “You are actually going beyond language and have a better understanding of different ideas.”

The findings were matched in a study of native Italian speakers who had learned English as a second language between the ages of two and thirty-four. Reading, writing, and comprehension were all tested. The results showed that the younger they started to learn, the better. “Studying a language means you get an entrance to another world,” explained the scientists.
