The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (MAA) is open from Thursday Dec. 3, then weekly Tuesday to Sunday. Entry to the museum is via a timed ticketing system. Collection highlights.

• A 14-meter tall totem pole(图腾柱)from the Queen Charlotte Islands in Canada.

• Samurai armor (盔甲)from Japan complete with a moustache made of boar’s bristles(野猪的鬃毛).

• The Trumpington Cross: an early Christian brooch(胸针)found in the Anglo-Saxon burial of a teenage girl only 3 miles from the museum.

• Freeze-dried potatoes from Peru that are at least 500 years old.

The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology actively encourages all visitors to the Museum, including people with autism. We have prepared the following information to help you plan for your visit. We hope that it will help to make your time with us enjoyable.

The Lenawee Intermediate School District

The Lenawee Intermediate School District offers a cooling centre for those of the community who are seeking the means to stay cool during weather emergencies. If you want to go hiking near New York City, you’re in luck. These trails can met your needs.

Ice Caves and Verkeerderkill Falls Trail Hike

Along the seven-mile tail, you get to get through the passages of the Ice Caves and walk past Verkeerderkill Falls. The trail is the highest waterfall trail in the Shawangunks. Take the Short Line bus from New York to nearby Ellenville and then take a 14-minute taxi ride to Sam’s Point Preserve.

Yellow Trail at Mount Beacon

Consider this 2.5-mile trail if you don’t have enough time. You can go on a quick but difficult hike there that sends you straight up to the Mount Beacon. You can take in beautiful views similar to its more popular neighbors there. You can even watch the sunset. To get there, take Metro-North to Beacon and take a 5-minute walk to the beginning of the trail.

Stairway to Heaven Trail

The trail lies about 50 miles outside the city, but it allows you to get everything you ever wanted in a hike. You’ll get good exercise if you choose the 7.3-mile “Stairway to Heaven”. Take NJ Transit bus route 196 or 197 to Warwick, New York, and it’s just a 10-minute taxi ride to the beginning of the trail.

Camp Smith Trail
