Snow is beautiful and makes everything looks new and bright. But snow isn’t always fun. In snowy countries, people usually wake up early to remove snow, what can be very heavy when the snow is wet. Traveling in the snow can also be difficult. Snow and ice make roads dangerously. Workers have to put salts on roads. The salt melts the snow, so the roads are safe. Snowstorms can cause problems, either. Storms bring strong winds and cold weather. They can bring lots of snow, too-sometimes more than a foot on snow! At the times, houses don’t have water and electricity. During storms it is unsafe go to work or school. Roads, businesses and schools are closing. Then students can enjoy a snow day.

It was reported that, on last Friday, a big storm destroyed two villages in South Africa, caused 4 deaths. Over 200 people became homeless as a result of the storm. A farmer said the storm began early in the morning and last one hour. He said, “I was in the kitchen with my wife and children while we heard a loud noise. A few minutes late, our house fell down. I managed to climb out, but much to my shocking, one of my boys was missing. I quickly went back inside and found them safe but frightened.” Soldiers and volunteer came to rescue those which were buried under the ruins. The local government provided food, clothes, and shelters for homeless.

In recent years, the sandstorm in the northern part of China has become more and more common natural disaster. The strong wind blows up some sand, making them difficult for people to go out. Sandstorms are caused by a variety of reason. First, in the past people feed a great number of sheep. As a result, the sheep ate so many grass that the land turned into deserts. Second, people were not concerning about protecting forests, and cut down many trees, that caused the loss of soil. When it comes to improve the situation, the government starts to stress at the importance of the environment. I believe final the problem will be solved in the near future.

Mary is a high school student, who devoted herself to her lessons every day. Last Saturday, as usual, she went to several class.

In the evening, she continued to study until deeply into night. She was too sleepy and tired that she couldn’t work effectively. On the Sunday morning, she was about to do her lessons while her Father came up and advised her to take a break. Soon they came up a good idea. We decided to go cycling in the countryside. Mary enjoyed herself, competing and chatting with her father, and felt relaxing in the open air. On Monday, Mary was energetic but active in class .

The first day in my new school, I feel unsettled, thinking that I would not be able fit into the new environment. However, when I entered into the classroom to have my first lesson, I found the boy I had met in my new neighborhood the day before, that relaxed me a lot. We began to talk happy about the things they were interested in. Then the bell rang. Our teacher came in and began to read aloud a list of name to check whether everyone was present. To my surprise, I didn’t hear my name calling. I put up my right hand. Before checking the list, the teacher said I was in the wrong class. How embarrassing I was!

The day before yesterday, I went to the bookstore where is near our school to buy a reference book. It was Saturday, so there was many people. Under the help of the shop assistants, I quickly got the book I needed. I was about to leave when I found someone trying to steal a man’s money. Although I was nervous, but I tried to think of a way to help. Suddenly, a good idea came me. I stepped on the man’s foot on purposes. As I expected, the man’s scream gives the thief a fright, whom quickly walked out of the shop. After hear my explanation, the man smiled and showed great gratitude to him.
