How to Beat the Rising Prices

A recent study by the Office of National Statistics tracked prices of essentials over a year. Pasta increased by almost 50%, bread by 16%and rice by 15%. So how do you combat the creeping cost of your groceries?     1

Plan what you need to buy

2     . First up, meal planning is a great way to ensure you have enough food in for the whole household, check what you already have so you can use these up with similar recipes but cost less. Then your plan can turn into a shopping list.

    3

We’ve all got our favorite brands and supermarkets, and it can be hard to ditch these for cheaper alternatives. But doing this can make a huge difference. Look for own brand items. Which are often made similar recipes but cost less. It might be that you end up just swapping one or two items-but that’s still saving you some cash.

Take advantage of deals

Special offers can be a huge help, but you do have to be careful. Many. such as Buy-One-Get-One-Free(BOGOF). are designed to make us buy more than we need. But if you are certain you’re going to use something, then buying in large amounts when they’re on offer will bring savings.     4     from which I have benefited a lot.

Prevent food waste

Finally, you’ll save a decent chunk of cash by avoiding throwing out food. There are two parts to this. On one hand, there’s forgetting you’ve got something and it’s gone off before you can use it-so keep an eye on the dates.     5    As long as items have been properly stored they’ll be fine to consume after the date. So don’t throw away those packs of crisps, tinned tomatoes or cans of beer just because they’ve been out of date.

A.Change what you buy
B.Remember your freezer
C.You need to check a discount really is a discount too
D.I tend to do this for toothpastes, tissue or any other products that I use everyday
E.Best-before, on the other hand, is just a guide to the quality of the product
F.Well. there are some simple tricks you can try that’ll reduce what you spend
G.There are a few advantages of thinking ahead before you get to the supermarket

【推荐1】If you do not use your arms or your legs for some time, they become weak; when you start using them again, they slowly become strong again. Everybody knows that. Yet many people do not seem to know that memory works in the same way.

When someone says that he has a good memory, he really means that he keeps his memory in practice by using it. When someone else says that his memory is poor, he really means that he does not give it enough chance to become strong. If a friend says that his arms and legs are weak, we know that it is his own fault (过错). But if he tells us that he has a poor memory, many of us think that his parents are to blame (受责备), and few of us know that it is just his own fault.

Have you ever found that some people can't read or write but usually they have better memories? This is because they cannot read or write and they have to remember things; they cannot write down in a little notebook. They have to remember days, names, songs and stories; so their memory is the whole time being exercised. So if you want to have a good memory, learn from the people: Practice remembering.

【推荐2】Fun Writing Activities for Struggling Writers

There are dozens of reasons kids struggle with writing. They may have difficulty getting their thoughts down on paper.    1    Perhaps grammar and language barriers are blocking their progress. Whatever the reason, adding a little fun can be a great way to get the creative juices flowing.

    2

Sometimes writers get stuck because they simply don’t know where to start. For a child, you can try things that are geared(合适)toward their interests, like My Favorite Toy, or What I Like to Do in the Summer. Remember,   it' s important to support and guide their ideas, not to discourage thoughts or judge them.

Develop a story map

A great activity to help struggling writers is to build a story map. Write down ideas for the beginning, middle, and end of a story. Or put the topic in the middle of the paper and draw lines out like a wheel for who, what where, and why.     3     This is helpful, because it takes stress out of the writing process.

Make writing relevant

Children are more apt to write if they can identify with the purpose of writing. Writing a letter to a friend or relative can better engage a struggling writer. Or maybe your child has some suggestions for books that the library should have.     4     If writing becomes a more meaningful activity to the child, it can help to make it an easier process.

Make writing enjoyable

You could consider making different writing supplies available like colored pens and pencils, notebooks, etc. Or you could provide a word bank of common words for your kid to use and spell.     5     Afterwards, reward your child’s good performance. These all set the stage and invite kids to get excited to write.

A.Inspire ideas
B.Develop an interest.
C.Use the map to guide the writing.
D.Make the process into more of a game.
E.Maybe they lack experiences to write about
F.There are loads of fun ways to get children writing.
G.Encourage him to write a letter to the person in charge

【推荐3】Research shows that people feel much better and do their best to do things when they experience positive emotions instead of negative ones.     1    . Here are ways to increase positive emotions in everyday life:

    2

There are positive emotions you are already familiar with, the ones you have experienced in your daily life. Make a list. Add new emotions as you notice them. Now look at your list. Identify a positive emotion you want to increase.     4    . Think of situations or activities you have experienced that made you aware of your joy. Write down as many as you can. Focus on small, simple things, like a song that makes you feel joyful whenever you hear it.
