China’s record-setting Shenzhou 13 missionis in the books.

After orbiting Earth for six months,     1     three crew members of China’s Shenzhou XIII mission have departed     2     the Tiangong space station and returned to the mother planet on Saturday morning, finishing the nation’s     3    (long) manned spaceflight.

Shortly after landing, all three astronauts radioed that they were feeling fine after their long space mission, bringing     4    (applaud) from the China National Space Administration’s mission control center in Beijing.

Shenzhou 13 set other national marks as well. For example, the mission’s Wang Yaping became the first woman to live aboard Tianhe and the first Chinese woman ever     5     (conduct) a spacewalk.

Wang was joined on Shenzhou 13 by Ye Guangfu and Zhai Zhigang,     6     commanded the mission. They were very busy during their six months in orbit. The astronauts — or taikonauts, as Chinese spaceflyers are called — performed two spacewalks, conducted more than 20 different scientific experiments and delivered two live     7    (education) lectures from Tianhe.

The Shenzhou 13 crew also spent some time     8    (get) Tianhe ready for its next round of visitors, which will arrive     9    (relative) soon; the Shenzhou 14 mission     10    (expect) to launch in early June.

Resources satellites mainly take on the jobs of observing the earth, including the land areas and the oceans, and    1    (call) “photographers in space”. Resources satellites can even see through the earth, exploring mineral resources and historical    2    (site) that cannot be observed by our eyes.

Located in Haidian district in Beijing, it operates and manages 19 satellites, processing and distributing the satellite data.    4    monitoring natural resources and urban planning, its another task is to use satellite images    5    (support) disaster relief. When a disaster happens, the staff will immediately apply the satellites, obtaining clear images in    6    (respond) to the disaster. So far, the center has obtained images of disasters including the floods in India, the MH370 disappearance,     7     the forest fires in Australia. Such satellite images are offered to other countries free of charge, thus    8    (provide) timely support for disaster assessment and relief.

China’s space industry has always been committed to enhancing human understanding of the earth,     9    can better promote human development. One day, when we look up at the sky, we may find that many satellites in     10     vast universe are looking back at us.

The three-month Shenzhou XII mission is part of the Tiangong program,     8     aims to complete the station in low-Earth orbit before the end of 2022.

The next crewed spaceflight－Shenzhou XIII－is scheduled to be launched in October. In 2022, two manned missions is expected     9     (continue) construction of the Chinese space station, which is scheduled to be completed the next year. Upon its completion, Tiangong will be manned     10     (regular) by groups of three astronauts in periods lasting several months.
