How to become a creative person

Anthony Burrill has been exhibiting his work in galleries across the world for over 15 years, finding inspiration in the most unlikely places. I read his book Make It Now! to discover how I too could develop my creativity.     1    .

●Look at the world through fresh eyes

In order to think up new and exciting projects, Burrill lets his mind and his body wander in the world. A walk in a new neighbourhood can give you a different view on your surroundings.     2    “Seeing new things helps generate new ideas,” says Burrill.

       ●Build your creative network

Working alone can be both difficult and boring. Burrill values his creative network as a source of inspiration.     3    .“These people will form the core of your creative community, from which a rich ecosystem of creativity will develop,” says Burrill.

           4

When Burrill began his career as an artist, he couldn’t afford expensive materials, so he had to find new and inventive ways to make things. “It’s much better to use what you have around you to produce something,” says Burrill.“It’s about being clever with what you have and seeing the benefits in the restrictions you have.”

●Remember that conformity(随大流) is the enemy of creativity

5    . Burrill always keeps in mind that “As soon as you start doing as you are told and following the rules, you stop being truly creative.”He knows that unconventional people are clever and inventive and always try hard to be the “oddball” amongst the crowd.

A.Be resourceful
B.Or you can take a weekend trip
C.Follow these top tips to do the same
D.Allow yourself to create useless things
E.It is essential to maintain your individuality as a creator
F.It is important to be familiar with what’s going on around you

【推荐1】People take up volunteering for different reasons. Some people want to “give something back”.     1     . Whatever the reason, you need to make some decisions.

    2

Firstly, what sort of organization do you want to help. You might have a particular charity in mind.

And perhaps you have been affected by some of the problems that a charity aims to support, like children who need help. Many local schools rely on volunteers who come in regularly to read with the children or help with their math.

Decide on the kind of work

You have to decide what sort of volunteer work you want to do.     3    . Do you prefer hands-on work? Are you good at dealing with people? Do you have a background in paperwork? Charities need volunteers to work in shops, organize or manage money-raising events, or, in the case of animal charities, walk dogs.

Apply for suitable positions

Be prepared with information about your previous (or current) employment and the sort of skills you have, so that the charity can match you to the most appropriate role. You might think that you have no such skills. Don’t let your lack of confidence stop you.     4

Call for some relevant information

5    , but smaller charities might not have money to do this. In this case, you would usually need to phone or visit their offices to find out how you can help. You will be welcomed with open arms.

B.Decide on your time
C.Others want to meet new people or learn new skills

For most people, the end of the weekend isn’t a welcome time.     1    . If you’re one of the many people who feel a sense of horror come Sunday, there are things you can do to make your evening a little better and a little calmer. Here’s what to know.

    2

It can help you relax as you close out the weekend. You might want to establish a good bedtime and engage in an activity you enjoy, such as reading a book, watching your favorite show or doing gentle yoga. So, ending the weekend in an anger certainly won’t help you feelgood about the upcoming week, but a calm Sunday night schedule will.

Prepare for Monday morning

Putting things in place to start your Monday on the right foot is a good way to ease some of your Sunday scaries, according to Francis Sopper, the CEO of productivity coaching organization GTD Focus.    3    .

Plan fun things for the week

To help reduce your sense of despair, Janssen, a productivity consultant at Ashley Janssen Consulting, suggested making plans to look forward to during the week, like dinner with a friend or a movie night with your partner. You could even add things to your. Monday morning routine to make the day a little more pleasant.     4     . Or order your favorite breakfast to eat before you start work.

Many people don’t have the luxury of tuning out of work for the entire weekend. If this is you, Sopper said to plan out your work intentionally; don’t just take on tasks that have no possibility of getting done over the weekend.    5    . This way, “at least if you worked, you have a sense of completeness,” Sopper added.
