Appealing Wordles

The website game Wordle was a huge hit earlier this year, with more than two million players across many countries trying to guess its daily word. If it has sparked your interest in word puzzles, there are plenty of brilliant mobile games to test your letter skills on the Android and Apple app stores.

Alphabear: Words Across Time: It is a great example. Each level starts with a grid of letters , from which you make words...and bears! The animals pop up if you use letters that are next to one another, and the bears get bigger as you spell more words. You can also unlock special powers to boost your points and time.

Wordfeud: If you’re a fan of board games you might enjoy! It lets you play Scrabble-style matches against friends. If you’re really keen you can be involved in up to 30 games at once. The game also lets you mix up the board so that its bonus-score tiles appear in different places, to keep you all on your toes.

Letterpress-Word Game: It is also a multi-player game, where you can play against friends or bots (game-controlled players). You have to spell out words to capture sections of the on-screen grid of letters for your colour (red or blue) before your opponent does, so it’s not just about finding one word at a time but also carefully planning your next moves.

SpellTower: It is about strategy, too. It’s a wordsearch game where the letter tiles rise up from the bottom of the screen. You have to reduce the tile as quickly as you can by finding words and beating your own high scores.

Some of these games use in-app purchases to unlock all their puzzles or remove adverts. They are optional — and remember, if you want to spend money, check with an adult first.

MY EXPERIENCES WITH COMPUTER GAMES

He invited me to play a game, which was very simple by today’s stand ads, but we loved it. We played for hours. We would meet after school every bay to play it. My addiction to computer games started then. Not long after that, my friend moved to the city. I missed him, but got my own computer and began playing by myself.

Over the years, computer games developed rapidly. Technology improved, and there were always raw and better games to play. You could then play games over the tenet with people from all over the world, using either computers or smart oh ones. The nine games were fascinating and it was always exciting to play.

My parents stooped me, so I started playing it the mode of the night. I went to school and often be asleep in d ass. My teacher wound solid me buts would often do the same thing the next day! Shortly after that, I began to skip meals and play through the night. My parents found out and took away my computer and smart phone. I knew I had gone too far. My love of computer games had become an addiction. It was affecting my schoolwork and my health, and I felt decreased.

Then one day I bumped into my friend again! He had moved back to our hometown. We hadn’t seen each other for ages. He joked happy and healthy We take d about the past and the good times we had, playing that old game. He still played computer games, but he also did many other things. He invited me to play basketball with some friends. I got tired quickly, but I loved it. Afterwards, we played a board game. We laughed and talked and played for hours. It was very sociable and great fun. Playing games with my friends in real life was much more enjoyable than doing so online.

Computer games are great fun and I still play them sometimes. New technology is making more amazing things possible. I’ve learnt that some games can even teach us to train our brains to salve problems. However, games can also be addictive, so balance is important for a healthy lifestyle. We can spoil good things by doing them too much. Now I enjoy playing games even more because I am able to maintain a good balance between work and play.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了ABZU这款游戏,介绍了游戏的玩法以及特点。

【推荐2】Abzu is a word from the oldest Sumerian stories, coming from the words “ab” (ocean) and “zu” (to know). Giant Squid, a US company, has named its newly developed video game ABZU.    1

In ABZU, players explore the ocean — a space that can be both alien and familiar at times. As the nameless diver, players explore the deep and see underwater life.

2    Players can press buttons to dive and travel around the seas. They can swim with fish. They can touch pools and awaken creatures such as sea turtles. Players can awaken more wildlife and make the waters richer with life.

But as they adventure through the ocean, players will discover more.    3    The developers used real fish and sea life and made some of the animals’ real-life behaviors in the game. If players are sitting above these shark statues, they’ll see this circle of life as one fish eats another.     4    It is like watching a Discovery Channel nature show.

Further into the game, players will discover broken underwater robots, and these robots will open the path for the diver. The developers let the environment tell the background story and players find out the other mechanics themselves.     5

Many have played ABZU so far. They think although the game is a short adventure, it holds the promise to being something more.

A.They’ll see shark statues.
B.At first, the game seems aimless
C.You need to pay for the skills in the game at first.
D.They’ll see cleaner fish feeding around a shark’s mouth.
E.It can be played on Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
F.Underwater games are always welcomed by many young people in the US.
G.Then, they’ll find underwater temples that hold the key to the main story of the game.

【推荐3】Children have their own rules in playing games. They seldom need a referee(裁判) and rarely trouble to keep scores. They don’t care much about who wins or loses, and it doesn’t seem to worry them if the game is not finished. Yet, they like games that depend a lot on luck, so that their personal abilities cannot be directly compared.

Grown-ups(成年人)can hardly find children’s games exciting, and they often feel puzzled at why their kids play such simple games again and again. However, it is found that a child plays games for very important reasons. He can be a good player without having to think whether he is a popular person, and he can find himself being a useful partner to someone of whom he is ordinarily afraid. He becomes a leader when it comes to his turn. He can be confident, too, in particular games, that it is his place to give orders, to pretend to be dead, to throw a ball actually at someone, or to kiss someone he has caught.

It appears to us that when children play a game they imagine a situation under their control. Everyone knows the rules, and more importantly, everyone plays according to the rules. Those rules may be childish, but they make sure that every child has a chance to win.

1. What is TRUE about children when they play games?
A.They can stop playing any time they like.
B.They can test their personal abilities.
C.They want to pick a better team.
D.They don’t need rules.
2. What do we know about grown-ups?
A.They are not interested in games.
B.They find children’s games too easy.
C.They don’t need a reason to play games.
D.They don’t understand children’s games.
3. Why does a child like playing games?
A.Because he can be someone else other than himself.
B.Because he can become popular among friends.
C.Because he finds he is always lucky in games.
D.Because he likes the place where he plays a game.
