High school plays an important part in the careers and lives of human beings. While at high school, we learn how to prepare for the     1     (practice) life and get the abilities to manage the problems of life. Problems are also the best challenges     2     bring new experiences and knowledge to us.

High school for me has proved to be a learning experience and also     3     challenge. There are many lessons that I learned. I learned     4     (much) about myself, who my friends are, what kind of help     5     (offer) to me, and what my strengths and weaknesses are.     6     (attend) high school helped build my     7     (confident) because my classmates supported me, and my teachers taught me how to study for tests, and they     8     (actual) helped me overcome my fear of math. My classmates were so kind. I used to attend study groups for the subjects that I was fond     9    . My classmates would even talk and try to comfort me when I was having personal problems and help me get     10     over.

High school is in fact what you make of it, but it is also the time of great change for everybody.

A Bite of China

No trip would be completed without     1     (experience) the local food culture. Actually, China has various kinds of delicious food, including a wide variety of local snacks.

Without a doubt, for the majority of the foreigners I contacted, and myself included, Peking Duck, Dim Sum, Mongolian Hot Pot were the favorite Chinese     2     (dish). China is a place     3     the food is not only delicious, but the     4     (cheap) I’ve ever found.

    5     my last night in Beijing before returning to the States, I went to a Peking Duck restaurant that had been suggested for me to try. What     6     beautiful place! Splendid woodblock prints on the walls, fresh flowers in the vases on the table,     7     (attract) silverware (镀银餐具) and beautiful chopsticks. I     8     (hand) a menu and found most of the prices were especially low for the high quality of the food. The duck came in whole or half, along with all the little decorations that you know if you’ve ever eaten Peking duck-a little tortilla (玉米饼) to put the sliced duck and vegetables in chopped onion, sauce.

Anyway, I ended up ordering a whole duck and thought I’d just take the rest back to my hotel     9     (eat) later if I couldn’t finish it. Unbelievably, in the end there was none of the whole duck     10     (leave) on the plate. Umm, yummy!
