As I write this I’m I sitting on a bus back to Santiago in Chile where I am I now working     1     a language assistant. I’ve just spent a weekend in a city called La Serena, north of Santiago. I was lucky enough to see the flowering I desert, a natural phenomenon that     2     (occur) around every five years here in the Atacama Desert.

    3     (follow) a particularly large amount of I rainfall earlier, a     4     (vary) of flowers come into blossom. Bright purple flowers create     5     unbelievably beautiful scene at the base of the surrounding mountains.

    6     (catch) the sight of this great treasure of nature, we took a bus from La Serena to a nearby town and then rented a car to go to the desert.     7     we saw did not disappoint us, and as expected it was even more amazing than the pictures we had seen online. The bloom was particularly     8     (impress) this year due to the strong presence of El Niño (a band of warm water developed in the Pacific Ocean that changes the temperatures and increases the rainfall in certain areas). The vast carpet of colour     9     spread into the distance towards the striking green hills was     10     (simple) wonderful and deserved a large amount of photos! A real reminder of the beauty our planet can provide.

Savanna, 11, is possibly one of our next great experts of the heart disease. After visiting her Sunday school teacher, who was about to perform a heart     1    (operate) at the hospital, Savanna’s curiosity led towards a deep appreciation of the heart and its importance to the human body.

Encouraged by her parents to research further matters of the heart, Savanna learned that one in three of her peers (同龄人)     2    (be) suffering from childhood fatness,     3     can lead to heart diseases. She began making YouTube videos sharing with the world ways to have a better health and create a happy, healthy heart.

In 2016, Happy Heart Advice launched its Happy Heart Challenges,     4    (provide) over 300 hundred children and families     5     education and free resources for healthy living. In June, she     6    (invite) as an important speaker at the 9th Biennial Obesity Conference where she shared valuable information on how to form healthy eating     7    (habit) and everyday lifestyles, and was honored by the American Heart Association for her work and effects in the health community at such     8     early age.

She’s currently working on an app that will make it     9    (easy) for moms and families to shop for “Happy Heart-approved Food”. She makes it her life’s goal     10     (make) sure kids have healthy hearts.

One morning, I was waiting at the bus stop, worried about being late for school. There were many people waiting at     1     bus stop, and some of them looked very anxious and     2     (concern). When the bus finally came, we all hurried on board. I got a place next     3     the window, so I had a good view of the sidewalk. Suddenly a boy on a bike     4     (catch) my attention. He was riding beside the bus. I heard a passenger behind me shouting to the driver, but he refused     5     (stop). Still, the boy kept riding. He was carrying something over his shoulder and kept     6     (shout). Finally, when we came to the next stop, the boy ran up to the door of the bus. I heard an excited conversation. Then the driver stood up and asked, “    7     anyone lose a suitcase at the last stop?” A woman on the bus shouted, “Oh, dear! That’s     8     (I).” She pushed her way to the driver and took the suitcase thankfully.     9     the boy had done set everyone on the bus talking, and the crowd of strangers     10     (sudden) became friendly to one another.

Everyone on the bus began     10     (talk) about what the boy had done, and the crowd of strangers suddenly became friendly to one another.
