My father and I started our morning by moving quickly into the local store. I waited in line at the Starbucks counter (柜台) _________ Father shopped around to pick up a few things.

When I was standing there, I saw an elderly woman, with untidy hair, wearing old clothes, behind me in line. She had a few things in her hands and seemed to want to pay at the counter.

At some point I found she was coming closer behind me — _________ than I was comfortable with! At once I put a hand _________ my purse and made it closer to me. My _________ made me keep making wild stories about this homeless woman who might try to steal (偷) from me.

“Two cups of hot chocolate and sandwiches.”

What does it mean to be a good tourist? Which tourists are the most welcomed in their country? According to a study, one country stood out above all others: Japan. YouGov, a UK market research company did the study, including nearly 28,000 people from 26 countries and areas.

The Japanese are famous for being the world’s most well-dressed, tidy, punctual (守时的) and polite travelers, The Telegraph reported. They line up politely and they never attend meetings late, talk loudly or try to take photos in art museums when they know they’re not allowed (允许) to do so.

Japanese tourists greatly surprised the world during last summer’s World Cup. The country’s soccer fans helped to clean stadiums (体育场) after matches, South China Morning Post noted.

The study also showed that another country stood out at the same time, but in the opposite way. Many people thought British tourists act the worst in the world. Even local people in the UK don’t like British tourists.

Many people said that British travelers are loud, poorly dressed and behave badly. They are also stingy (吝啬的) when tipping at restaurants and hotels.

It’s not hard to be a good traveler. The Chinese government advises tourists not to throw rubbish on the ground or talk loudly. They are also told to line up properly and be more polite.

So how can we be a good tourist?

Parents are the ones who love you most on Earth. However, you don’t often thank them. Sometimes when you want to, it’s too late. So don’t wait, say some sweet words to your parents.

“I miss you.” You may be busy, but don’t forget to call your parents and tell them how much you miss them.

“Thank you for all the things you do.” Hug (拥抱) them and tell them how much you thank them. You can’t give back everything they’ve done for you, but this small act will make them feel warm.

“I’m sorry.” You may hurt them before but they still love you. You may try to go back in time and make everything right. But that can’t happen and all you can do is to say sorry.

“Thank you for making me what I’m today.” You can never thank them enough for this. They are always there to help you move forward in life. Let them know they are the real heroes in your life.
