When the two eldest daughters saw him, they ran away. The youngest said, “I will marry him. Father, you made him a promise. I must help you keep the promise.” The solider took a ring from his finger, cut it in half and gave her one half. He kept the other half himself. Then he left, saying, “I will walk around the country for three years. Please wait for me.”

Finally, on the last day of the seven years, the devil looked at him angrily but he kept his promise. After the devil washed him and cut his hair and beard, the soldier returned to the girl’s house. When he brought out his half of the ring, she took the other half. They married and lived happily.
