At the age of twelve, Edison began selling candies, sandwiches and newspapers on the train. One day in August, 1862, Edison saw a boy playing on the tracks （铁轨） at a station. A train was coming near quickly, and the boy was too frightened to move. Edison rushed out and carried the boy to safety. The boy’s father was the station master. He was so thankful that he taught Edison railway telegraphy（电报通讯术）. This gave him a start in his life.

If someone asks me, “Do you like music?” I will answer him or her, “Of course, I do.” Because I think music is an important part of our lives.

Different people have different ideas about music. For me, I like rock music because its so exciting. And my favorite rock band is the Beatles. I also like pop music. My classmate Li Lan loves dance music because she enjoys dancing. My best friend Jane likes jazz music. She thinks it’s rally cool.

“I love dance music and rock very much,” says my brother, “because they are interesting”. But my mother thinks rock is boring “I like some relaxing（轻松的）music, ” she says. That’s why she likes country music, I think.
