Many people know Bear Grylls. He is ________ famous UK adventurer(探险家). He likes to take trips to beautiful and dangerous places. But do you know? About 400 years ago in China, there was a man even ________ than Bear. He spent about 30 years travelling across China. Who was he? He was Xu Xiake.

Xu Xiake was born in Jiangsu. ________ he was a child, Xu liked reading books about Chinese mountains and rivers. At that time, many children were studying hard to become officials(官员), but Xu’s father never asked him ________ exams. He often ________ his son to go out to see the world. Xu began his trip when he was about 20. Before Xu left, his mother made a travelling hat for ________ to show her support(支持).

Xu travelled to over 100 ________ in China. There were many difficult things during his trips, ________ he never gave up. Xu also wrote a book ________ his travels — The Travels of Xu Xiake. He described(描述) the geography of China and showed his ________ love for nature in the book. The book is very important in the history of China.

It is nice to hike with kids, but you must know something about hiking if you want to take a happy, relaxing trip.

Start early, know what to do in a heavy rain and carry sunglasses. Take snacks, toilet paper and a bag with you. Take a whistle (口哨) for kids. You may use it if children run away.

Find a partner. Kids are naturally competitive, and you can use this to your hike. They will try to do better than each other when they go hiking. They also will keep each other interested in something new.

Do something easy. It’s good to play easy games. You can say “Does anybody see anything red that matches my shirt?” Kids will be easy and happy to answer this kind of questions.

If you aren’t excited, they won’t be either. When your kids find something they are interested in, you must show your interest in it, too.

My father said that he, my mother and I were going to travel around the world. My mother and I smiled. Dad was a shop manager and worked hard in a shop. He loved us, but we did not have enough money for a long holiday.

There was a shed (小屋) in the garden. Dad started going there every day, but he put paper over the windows and locked (锁) the door so we didn’t find out his plan. He brought boxes home and put many things in the shed. It was very strange. Then one day he told us the holiday was ready. We went into the shed. Inside, it was a train! We sat down and the train started. We saw picture through the windows. “Look. We are going through Beijing. ” And a few minutes later, we were passing the Great Wall of China. Dad brought lunch in: Beijing Duck!

We spent the next three days in the train and they were the most exciting days of my life. We saw Paris, London, Roma (罗马), Venice (威尼斯) and many other places. We ate French pancakes, British fish, chips and Italian pizza. We heard the music of different countries. Thank you, Dad, for a wonderful holiday!

Henry’s family had a picnic over the weekend. They asked their friends, Nancy and her husband, to go with them. On Sunday morning, Henry’s wife, Kate, got up early to prepare(准备)sandwiches for the picnic. She asked Henry to get the picnic basket ready. She also told him that he should put paper plates in it. At 10 o’clock in the morning Nancy called and told Henry that she would like to bring something to the picnic. Kate called her back and asked her to bring a bottle of wine(酒). Nancy and her husband arrived at noon. The two families went to a nearby park. There were tables and chairs under the trees beside the river. The weather was cloudy but it didn’t rain. Everybody enjoyed the picnic and it was a very pleasant(令人愉快的) Sunday afternoon.
