April Fools, Mr Todd! is a good book for children. It tells us a story happening on April Fools’ Day.

Mr. Todd is a teacher of Class 3. He’s a tall man with short brown hair. He always wears a pair of glasses. And he always wears a white shirt. Now he’s in the classroom with his students.

“Who knows what the first day of April is?” Mr. Todd asks.

“My birthday!” Judy says quietly, but nobody hears her. They are all saying. “April Fools Day!”

“And what happens on April Fools’ Day?” asks Mr. Todd.

“Funny things!” “Jokes!”

“That’s right,” Mr. Todd says. “In France and Italy, people call it April Fish Day.”

“Does it mean going fishing without classes?” asks Rocky.

“No,” says Mr. Todd. “That means you tape (用胶带粘贴) a picture of a fish on somebody’s back (背部), and see how long it takes him or her to find out.”
